Feelings are still strong here in Oregon about the decision to restrict logging, but I'm very thankful that they did. Corporations are usually very greedy industries that do almost anything for a profit. They timber companies would've clearcut the entire state if allowed. The people of Oregon generally are quite careful to take care of the land and water. We place a high value on the beauty and cleanliness of our natural environment. This decision was good for Oregon in the long term, if somewhat painful for the economy in the short term. Like banning DDT, and making all beaches public, it was a overall wise move that future generations can be thankful for.

Its good to know Oregonians are still fighting for these magnificent creatures, ya have to because greed goes right back to tearing up the wild life and planet after the people calm down.

Of course you didn't the loggers who were put out of work. And you wonder why they voted for Trump. Does it bother you that we have to get more wood from countries like Canada.
@nateb45432 жыл бұрын
"Making a profit" also entails employing a lot of people. They also understand that clearcutting the whole state is not a sustainable business practice. I understand theres a middle ground and im very against unfettered logging. But its not as simple as you make it sound. Keep in mind that forest fires are largely to blame from under managed (over protected) forests

@@joecole4208 I also voted for Trump. He wasn't a globalist, but a nationalist who tried to do what was good for America. He was no saint, but he did do a LOT of good. Sadly Buck Fiden has done his best to undermine all the good that Trump accomplished. (We were energy independent under Trump, for instance.) Although the good things he did were undone by the buffoon who took his place, Trump delayed the coming collapse by 4 years. I am very grateful for that, and exuberant that Hillary (AKA,the great whore of Babylon) didn't get elected. I honestly doubt whether we will even see another presidential election.

I live on the Oregon coast and have since the early 1990’s. These owls are hugely controversial here, putting lots of people out of work. I actually lived out in the country on 5 acres, but it might as well been thousands of acres since my property was largely surrounded by government protected spotted owl habitat. I have lots of mixed feelings about it. Lots of people lost their careers but I personally was greatful they didn’t log near my home. There’s still plenty of logging going on, it’s a big part of our economy as I live in a logging town, it’s just not as big as it use to be.

2:49 pm This morning at around 4 am I heard 2 screeching calls from one of the trees in my front yard. I live in the country in MN outside of Minneapolis. It's September. I've never heard a sound like it before. It happened twice. I played several owl sounds off of the internet and I know without a doubt that I heard a female spotted owl. I recognized that screech immediately. Nothing else like it! I have no idea what this owl is doing in MN...migrating South most likely. Could it be off course due to the wildfires in Canada? I have no idea. I didn't see her. Only heard her. I wish I had recorded it, but had no idea it would be something so unusual!

You do realize that you can plant more trees to grow back wherever an area has been logged, don't you? I understand that it takes many years for a sapling to get to the size of the trees getting cut down but with appropriate forest management practices, logging can be a sustainable industry that won't decimate forests like how hippies like you think. Honestly arborists often times care more about the forests and have a better understanding of what it takes to make sure these ecosystems can thrive. Often times thinning some forests out can positively impact the whole area even if you don't believe it. Thanks to so man environmental nazis making certain areas unable to be touched, the vegetation gets out of whack and becomes a huge fire hazard, causing various forest fires. Some whackos even protest when people (like me sometimes) cut down trees that are part of a burn scar and were killed or mortally wounded by the fire and will die in a short time. Those same people who protest that would also be the type to get triggered and suffer PTSD if one of the burnt trees fell across the hwy and prevents them from being able to buy their soy lattes. They would also need therapy and a safe space to cry and think about what gender they want to be if one of those trees fell into the power lines and knocked the power out where they live
@MarriedWithPizza4 ай бұрын
@@slayerfan209 For sure, sadly most places are not logging sustainable. I have seen a few DNR by the Olympic peninsula where they leave older trees in their timber land, that is good, but most places are cutting down everything and just replanting, so the entire forest is young and you can see it, too, inside the forest it has no life. Not even ferns will grow in it. I like to compare the logging industry to the trophy hunting, lots of people want to shut them down, but don't realize that those areas receive enough money from throphy hunters to be able to protect the majority of their animals from poachers.... It all comes down to doing it in a sustainable way.

Philomath used to be a big timber town, so I'm not really surprised. Now our students are being forced to espouse liberal agendas instead of conservative ones. Instead of encouraging a student to think for themself. It's more about turning out societal mindsets than critical thinkers.

I forgot about this. I'm the spotted owl, so basically I had to go and name thee trees in the Forrest. Like 8 of them were named gus and the second one was named bud, so thats why you cat harvest them. What does stop doing implosion mean-to-you? Then I was sad because I had to do that work while they got ride in a school bus with rainbows. And people who sought to cut trees were trying to say that they hunted me, but like were unhappy because I was standing there saying they can't. So I said a couple decades later, um, you know how you go pots-and-pans in the office? It's because you keep harvesting your root, which is the trees. But like it's horrific when you select cut in the particular Forrest, but your trying to clear cut it. Well, the problem started when I asked one of the shaws if I could buy the mill and be a secretary there and these people stole the mill.
