OML is pretty much Phoenix 2.0. When Phoenix came out, she was another level of power above other legendaries. OML seems another level of power over current legendaries. They were also more scarce with Phoenix making her a 6 Star unlock.

I don't speak out much but I am a bit of a whale in MSF and I'm currently just outside of the top 100 for TCP, The spending in this game has been getting harder and harder to justify and even the offers in the web store have been absolute trash. I went all in to beat Escape from Kyln and was able to do so at 6 yellow, 6 red for Leader and Iron Patriot but had to get my Namor way up there and it burnt me the hell out towards spending, I just do not want to spend any more in this game, it no longer feels worth it at all. and I will not be spending a dime to bring Leader, IP, CGR, and SB up to 7 yellow, 7 red. Take it for what it's worth, but I think this is seriously burning out a lot of players in the game, it's great that they're trying to bring in new players, but those of us who have been around since the beginning are just not feeling it anymore, it was fun, then they screwed it up, then they made it fun again, then they screwed it up, just a constant back and forth. This roller coaster ride is just not what it used to be. That's my two cents anyway.

The old legendary unlock method was to have the 7star locked behind 7stars on another particular team. Then we got the 7star locked behind your roster as a whole and investment in a certain team (the original scourges). And now we have a the 7star locked behind 4-5 teams of 7star characters. In other words the old unlock method was better, there is now no more argument on whether you prefer scourges or not, the old method was better.

It's been said in here but I doubt ArchAngel lied. From the onset it feels like they were wishy washy with the required 2nd team. I could see that they were going to require Cabal but had a meeting and changed it but as usual Boundless'ed it and didn't change the blog so AA was required to communicate the mistake. And then Cabal didn't sell because they aren't a mandatory team. They're a luxury Crucible team and you could tell that they didn't make money on the team because SO MANY people cried out for the Iron Patriot unlock. Boundless backtracked, made them required again, and now AA is hiding because he knows how bad it makes him look. Plus, this isn't even close the first time this has happened with a Legendary unlock. They used to do this all the time. Did the new team sell? No? Then make them needed for a legendary. This is just Boundless going back to it's Scoplely ways. Don't blame AA. Blame the company he works for.

One thing I learn about game companies that are Free To Play is that the higher ups will blindside/lie up to the Game Directors if it means they can get a quick buck. A game I play, Destiny 2 developed by Bungie also had these same issues (ie. New mechanics being offered on a specific date despite the Manager/Directors/Developers never being told about it). Many times, they are only meant to be a messenger with the purpose of taking the blame by the greed from the higher ups.

I don't get the backlash for Emma and Loki. I can maybe get Cabal since they are newer, but I'm 100% free to play and my Emma and Loki are a minimum of level 90 and gear tier 17. Loki was needed for raids for a while and a couple evens, so I built him up for that stuff (mostly raids). Emma was needed for various things like game modes and events, so I decided to take her up to what I did. Plus I even waited for when I had the extra gear to take her up to 17. Plus I wanted to see how she would do in Dark Dimension for a couple nodes. And it didn't really hurt my roster building working on them. I haven't hit a dead end on working on other characters because I decided to throw some gold and gear pieces into them. There is probably like 50 other characters that are top priority to work on, but I feel I haven't made things difficult for myself for throwing resources into the two, especially Emma. I also don't regret it either. But Emma does pop up once in a while as a character we need for something. One example is I think I used her for Villain nodes in scourges.

What this tells me is that spending has gone down, and they are doing things to fill the hole. Making a character with a really good kit that people want, but the catch is you need to have spent money is a really dirty trick and, for the most part, will backfire. I think they think enough people will spend to offset the backlash.

The problem isn't just about how much money that Scopley could have made if they told the player base that Cabal would be required for the next legendary. It's the fact that they are cowards and fear facing the reactions to their decisions. So they lie, spread lies, until the last minute and then pop that surprise. As far as Arch Angel perhaps he was lied too. BUT what reason do we have as the player base to believe that he didn't lie? Let's say that he didn't lie, then the company he works for has tarnished HIS name and threw him under the bus. Everything that those posts have said will be the reality no matter what the truth is.

So, if OML is the new normal, we need to start adjusting. I think going forward, Ultimus credits should probably be prioritized for legendary required characters. I would also hoard premium and mega orbs until both legendary teams are in there. It is what we used to do when there used to be star requirements.

taking care of spenders... i understand why you think this looks bad.. but if i am choosing to spend my money on the game i want to actually get something for it. If someone else chooses to not or never spend money on the game, then they have to live with that choice. ALL CHOICES HAVE CONSEQUENCES.. some good some bad. I dont like that the new scourges have made it very hard to finish and get a 7 yellow on the legendary characters... i thought that scopely made a good choice by just removing the ability for people who already had 7 stars from competing in the scourge events.. i feel the new OML event is exactly like this they just changed when something happens vs it not happening at all. the people spending car payments to scopely for this game should be able to be the dominant players in the game. thats just the facts. OML is a LEGENDARY character, one that we shouldnt just be given. do i want to be able to unlock him.. YES.. but im also ok going back to the days when you were able to unlock on the second time around... again.. if someone is spending money to get what they need to unlock a special legendary character, if i cant do it on the first time it just means i have to work on what i need to get myself there... should this be just wallet farming..NO i think that they should make the necessary things available to us in a short amount of time.

Im back from a year hiatus. I've come back as the game took a turn for the better. However nothing really has changed. Scopely makes a profit. That's ok by me. But why is the game constantly undergoing changes to keep increasing those profits. Do they need to keep increasing profits and milk their player base? Why not reach a target of profits and be happy and not introduce new money grabbing mechanics?

I follow your logic that Krakens/spenders are already in a strong position and would spend anyway, however making the game a better place for them stops them quiting - I think this is about Kraken retention - if you have an Uber account and unlock Mephisto why keep playing? - Scopely has the data and will adjust their behaviour based on revenue so the best thing any player can do to influence them is stop spending

I don't agree with attacks on Archangel as a person. I'm sure he's a fine guy who was just trying to do his job, and hey, I get it, my job sucks sometimes, too. So take this next bit as not a criticism of his character, but of the situation. One of three things has happened, and regardless of which it is, the outcome is the same. Archangel was telling the truth as it was at the time, and the company changed their mind; Archangel was talking out of his ass without actually knowing; or, Archangel knew Cabal was intended to be used because it was clearly there in the blog post, and he lied to forestall criticism at that moment. It doesn't matter which of these is true. As a CM, he is a representative of the company, so even if he was telling the truth as he knew it and the decision changed, that means he was not informed of it or not allowed to discuss it. This means he is no longer a reliable source of information and cannot be trusted. It's just a game, vote with your wallet, blah blah blah, sure, but I don't like being jerked around, y'know? It costs nothing to be honest.

Wait... the screen shot of the og blog said cabal would be used.... and it did... and at the time there was a bit of kick back on that and that was what caused Archangels post......so yeah he punted a bit but the og blog said they would be required with out of time.... stranband is the only toon holding me back from the 5 star unlock... I had the worst luck in his event.... and I bought his unlock....I also bought Cabal cause I love CC and that very reason!!! I was more salty really with the second reply to be honest....
