I don't know how much you know about Dungeons and Dragons, but this reminds me a lot of that idea...as far as setting up a world with loose parameters and rules, and using that as a way for the players to collaborate in telling a story. A "game", in that game theory is utilized, but collaborative as opposed to competitive...that relies on constant communication and reaction to one another without having a visualized goal that you're trying to steer the story toward. Playing off each other in what we think the other is trying to express (so we can try and amplify that), but never being married to any idea.

I'd love to hear anything open compositions you write. And thanks for the encouraging words on the editing. I'm just messing around with Final Cut Pro. Sometimes I take too long doing it and realize that I should just stop and finally upload it!

My avant-prog-metal band's new album has two improvised tracks recorded at somewhat extreme conditions. It was recoded last September at Colin Marston's studio in Queens, NY about three weeks before a European tour. Two days recording, day one 11 hours, then home for a bit of sleep and then another 8 hours...the first 17 hours and 15 minutes were used for the composed music, then last 45 minutes we decided (even though we were completely exhausted) to recorded some improvising. No plan, no thinking for sure, just react. The music can be heard here ronanderson.bandcamp.com/album/bestial The two tracks are 1. Attrition 2. Chiaroscuro Cheers, Ron

Fascinating piece; particularly Stockhausen's presentation. Wondering if you yourself ever did the Gold Dust?

All of your concepts really resonates to me, great thanks to you. You have captured a lot of useful things which every improviser have to use. U did great job, but why you have stopped? Answer me, please. And im seriously invite you to our school in Ukraine) Unfortunately, at this moment i have no resources to fly to Japan, but now i have one more reason to fly to this country. And last, if you dont mind, i want you to speak with me via any social network and share your ideas about concept of improvising school . Waiting for your reply while eating all knowledge which u have shared here. Thank you!

Pavlo Galchenko - Thank you for the kind words! It's great that you opened a school of improvisation! Man, I'd love to visit Ukraine! Hopefully, I will make it out there soon. I'll let you know. Why I haven't uploaded in a while: Last summer I decided to take a break from social media, including KZbin, for a while. And it's been great! One reason is that recently my wife gave birth to our first baby girl. I want to put as much energy as I can into her. Also, some other major (wonderful) life changes. I'll be moving to the US to build a new, bigger and better, school there. I also had a heavy music job thing that took a lot of time. Every time I planned to go back to KZbin and other internet stuff something else came along and prevented me from doing so. But, I do plan to start again soon! I even have a few videos ready to upload on my harddrive. And with lots of fun changes! So, sorry it's taking so long. Things will be back soon, and it'll be even better! And, sure, contact me. Let's talk! It sounds great!
