I received a fantastic YT comment yesterday that I want to address for all my videos focused on answering open-ended questions. When questioning the interview question, you want to ask 1 or 2 questions - meaning, you ask, pause, and wait for a response. If your interviewer is answering your questions, try to see if they will answer 1 to 2 more. BUT at a certain point the questions need to go from regular questions to rhetorical questions. You still want to question the interview question, but focus on questioning by saying, I would want to know this, I would want to clarify that, but you need to move past pausing and waiting for a response. Because YES, it will not take your interviewer that long to get annoyed if you pause after every question. I hope this helps and please respond to this comment if you feel like this is another video! Thanks!

That's a great point! I just stumbled across your content, and appreciate the insights and nuance to you're offering. Can you also include a bit of context for your comment? I would love to understand what the original comment was that prompted you to emphasize on the segue from actual questions to rhetorical ones.

Hi Jeff, that's great content! Could you please cover each part of this framework with some technical examples in the event of a new program launch?

Puneet, thank you for your comment. Going in depth into each framework concept backed by examples is probably too much to write in a KZbin comment, but I would consider doing a follow up video on this subject. I will add it to our content list as something to consider. Thanks!

Hi Jeff! Your step 4 is about creating, getting methodologies and framewords down on paper. Are there any developed frameworks already or key frameworks to be applied?

Also, by watching your example - let's take the potential question "what is more important quality or cost, why?", i have difficulties seeing how to apply the framework to the question. Should I go through the items listed to answer it (historical data, budget, etc.)? How does these apply? Again, thanks much!

Marie-Joe, the most common one I use is the one I shared in this video - HBTRRSSS, I think this framework will help answer more than half of open-ended questions. But frameworks should be unique to you and your experience, that is what makes them memorable. I hope this helps, thanks!
@jeffhsipepi
@jeffhsipepi 4 жыл бұрын
Marie-Joe, the way I personally look at is, I would be unable to answer that question without looking at all these items. Has history told us that quality or cost is more important to our customers? How is our budget and timeline going to impact quality and cost? Do we have the right resources in place internally or externally to create a quality product or service? Do we have the right resources from an internal or external tools perspective to maintain lower costs? Etc. This is the way I tackle open-ended questions with frameworks. This strategy is not for everyone, but this is how I see repeatable success with tough questions. Thanks!
