Hi Can someone tell me why the spotters sometimes put their hands on the flyers legs as they come down? If that to help prevent them toppling forward? Clueless kiwi here.

My question also .... I see no benefit to the flyer by this thigh touch for pulling off her trick....I think the spotters want to be acknowledged as part of the team which they are in a big way BUT I can't stand the leg fondle ..... I greatly respect those who don't do it unless someone who actually does this sport can explain to us a practical reason for it .....For me it distracts from putting full attention on the flyer .....

Can I try? So, like I was a gymnast right? Then, a girl broke her knee and they needed a cheerleader I was only ever backspot. Give you guys credit because it's not easy But like..... I wanna try! I wanna play! I've never been the flyer. Did 1 partner stunt and he shook his hands up and down and scared me. It was my first time! Lol I'm sure after the fear that's not that bad lol but I jumped out of his hands, hahhaaaaaa

I tell u wot iv never paid attention to this b4 but this meks it immediately apparent that its the guys doing the lifting tht carry the skills here. They have to b able to throw theses girls an exact amount based on their individual weights n exact move required to get them to land at a precise point n time with correct orientation while the girls jus hv to assume pose required n stay rigid n jus sometimes aid in the lift by maybe 10-15% if that. This is a show of strength n calculation with a few girls that r flexible. I think the guys r doing 80% of the work n hv some impressive abilities tho the point of it is a different matter. Im sure its cool to lots of ppl
