Very good and succinct video Dustin. The application for this case is for disposal of a general fluid? I would imagine the strength of the formation may play a role, in the case of a possible close for soft unconsolidated vs hard formation.

Generally for water disposal (salt water generally). Water disposal is generally needed for oil operations, potash operations, etc. The water from operations is unusable and so disposing of the water into deeper salt water formations is the easiest/cheapest way to get rid of it. The disposal formation is very important, the thicker, more permeable formation the better, since the zone will dispose of more water under less pressure but also be more forgiving with any solids carryover that may plug. Hard vs. soft or consolidated (think rock) vs unconsolidated (think beach sand) will dispose differently. Increasing injection capacity is different for each formation.

@@dustinnewman9049 Thanks for the explanation. I do have oil and gas background (RE). I took a class in CO2 storage and remember there being a requirement for good cap rock to prevent leakage. In your operations, do you consider proximity disposal layer to aquifers for drinking. I was recently looking into well completion videos and came across yours.

@@jeromeeusebius Yes, good caprock is a must to ensure you don't have leakage. For injection operations I have worked with, ground water is within 200m from surface. Injection is into 500m - 2000m. Before one can inject into a formation in western Canada, testing (temp log) is completed to prove that there is no migration of fluids out of the zone.
