The utter nerve of this witch . New ground rules when shit stopped going her way. I understand his "tolerating" her bs he was just setting up his exit strategy. He realistically understood that, despite his wife's disgusting behavior the courts would have crucified him. So he waited until the kids were almost off to college and then kicked it to the curb.

His initial reaction, and the way she rubbed his face in it, was stomach-turning. And his next move was to move into his basement? This was also pitiful behaviour. I know he was playing the long game, but I know I could not have done this. She would have been punted into the stand immediately.

How many husbands on these threads have been given ultimatums or been threatened with divorce? How many of you looked at the abyss of divorce and paused with second thoughts? How many fathers immediately thought of your children’s future and which custodial parent they would choose? I know it really is difficult and at least in my case kept me wondering if I made the right decisions. But it’s too late now as those decisions had to be made. And either I was going to make them or someone else was going to.

I made a decision to be honest with my kids, long ago, about everything from finances to the relationship between their mother and I. Of course the sharing has always been taylored to their level of understanding. My parents "protected" me from the realities of things like finances and thus I made some big mistakes as a young man.

If both of you want to explore, go right ahead (I have no problem with "alternative lifestyles", IF they are done properly, which does NOT include coercing your partner into a open marriage so you can tell yourself that you "aren't technically cheating"...) But if one of you feels like the marriage vows are too constraining, that tells me it is time to lift the vows permanently...

Sorry, but I think the AI screwed up. Per the rules there was no discussion of their dates but Jane knows about Sally? Since she wants to change the rules later, we can assume they upholded them, so she shouldn't know about her. Later she laments that Jacques doesn't even come downstairs for breakfast. Why was he upstairs when his usual hangout is the basement? And finally, there is no way Jane would forget about having signed a prenup, especially if she uses the threat of divorce as a manipulation tactic.

Cow down to her and you'll loose your kids respect for you. Sometimes divorce is better for the kids to see both parents happy apart than miserable and unhappy together. Not a reason to stay, just an excuse.
