Open Readings 2023 - DAY 1 - Maria Abrahamsson

Prof. Dr. Maria Abrahamsson received her Ph.D. degree in Physical Chemistry and started her scientific carrier at Uppsala University, where she remained working as a postdoctoral researcher. In 2007-2010 she was a post-doctoral research fellow in Chemistry at John Hopkins University.
Prof. Abrahamsson‘s research focuses on Physical and inorganic chemistry and photochemistry, laser spectroscopy, photoelectrochemistry, molecular systems, heterogeneous systems, nanocrystalline semiconductors. Work at her group is centered around conversion of solar energy to solar fuels. They use a combined molecular-materials approach to convert solar energy into redox equivalents that can be used to drive chemical reactions. The group also aims at photocatalytic conversion of carbon dioxide with sunlight. In addition to the photocatalysis, the group studies photophysics and photochemistry of transition metal compounds, in solution and on surfaces, both for photosensitizing purposes and spin cross-over applications.
Currently, Dr. Maria Abrahamsson is a professor of physical chemistry and the director of the Materials Science Area of Advance at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden. Maria Abrahamsson is author or co-author of over 60 scientific articles and has worked in various projects in the fields of chemistry and biochemistry.
