Can someone explain to me what spotlight cachets are? Are they only available to those who have already collected every card?

Can also be a 1200 gold shop pool card. I got the Symbiote Spider-Man (for my dupe of Spider-Ham!), setting the bar impossibly high😂. The Premium Mystery Variant pool for the 800 gold option in the store is: for every 9, you get 3 of the 1200s and 6 non-pixel 700s, FWIW. I'd guess it's the same for a PMV roll from a spotlight cache.

@@user-fy3nf3lg2jno bro, after collection level 500 you enter pool 3 and you will have access to caches, those can contain cards, variants, credits, titles, icons or collector tokens (new stuff to buy cards in the shop). Now with this new patch, every 9 of these caches, the 10th one will be a Spotlight cache, where you will find what cozy shows in the video. Cheers

For the spotlight caches, the random 4-5 drop needs to be of ones you don't have. I got Nebula (pass card) and ended up with a Titania variant, that just feels horrible!

Absolutely. I had thought I would get a 4-5 I don’t have but I also got Nebula (not even a variant of her) then converted to a Dr Strange variant (a damn series 1 card?!). That felt like a kick in the balls.

A quote from Tucker, a SD Dev on why they did it this way (found on Marvel Snap Zone): We wanted the ability for a Spotlight Cache to contain *anything*, so we originally tossed in Mystery S4/S5 (with no dupes). But the math didn’t work; it led to a scenario where players who already own almost all of the S4/S5s had a 50% chance of getting the newest card after 1 pull (since Mystery S4/S5 would also give them the newest card). Felt too P2W to us. So we were at a crossroads, we could either replace Mystery S4/S5 with a 4th featured card or preserve the ‘any card is obtainable’ vibe by downgrading Mystery S4/S5 to Random S4/S5. Really wanted to preserve ‘any card is obtainable’, so went down that path.

I do understand the chance if you have most (or all in Cozy's case) of the S4/S5 cards, but for those of us will less than half and then having season pass cards in there (which is good for F2P, but if you spend money it is most likely the season pass). That felt bad to me, but I am just one customer that spends lightly.

My friend had 2 spotlights and wanted to try for Jean. First cache is LT as expected. His second one was ALSO the base LT! It was then converted into a Venom variant. That needs to not be a thing.

My first Spotlight cache opening was Snowguard, so I would hardly call Tribunal the worst possible outcome... there are people getting the random spotlight draw and getting a 700 gold variant as their selection, because they pulled a card they already had. It could have been much worse.

That was 1/4 random series 4/5 card. If you open another three, you'll get Jean Gray, Knull, and Living Tribunal. Guaranteed

I managed to pull snowguard in the old cache system so I wasn’t worried about anything except for tribunal. First draw and got tribunal. Sounds about right

I got lucky and pulled Jean Grey first, but I agree with the conversion thought... that just feels bad (especially because you are disappointed the first time, then potentially disappointed again on the conversion). I know they are trying to push variants more to diversify collections and reduce targeting cards, so I would recommend having a three-variant choice on the conversion... at least that way the player has a bit more agency to get something they may use (and throw in at least 200 tokens or something small).

COZY please see this: With the convert button, IF they ARE going to give variants then they should be guaranteed Crackle effect, if not that then it has to be AT LEAST 1000 tokens cause the current convert button into random useless variant is a straight up spit on the face. So what you had happen to you with Galactus, I had happen to me with Knull. I already owned Knull ages ago, and when I clicked convert it gave me a Galactus chibi variant. I was pissed off beyond belief. It should have been another Series 4/5 card or tokens (as you mentioned Cozy).

For convert it should give one time 2000 tokens and either a variant of that card or a random card. It makes sense because it would mirror the rebate in the shop

They don't want to give people 2000 tokens, as it is basically almost giving someone a S4 of their choice. They want a typical GACHA gambling system, where you have high highs and very low lows...The low lows give you a bad feeling that makes you want to keep pulling. It is the same psychological reaction gamblers have when they lose at the table and think they can win it back by wasting more money/resources gambling. It is psychological manipulation and it is intentional. I got Snowguard in my first spotlight cache, so at least it wasn't a random variant, but I would rather have a variant.

For the dupe convert, I'd love 3 options: A) Token conversion (prorated by S4/5). And not breadcrumbs-fell-on-the-floor amounts 😬 50% (1,500/3k) would feel a lot more fair I think B) Random variant of the card you rolled (preference given to 1200s, no pixel unless you own all others released. Indicate what level available.) Greyed out if all owned. C) Premium mystery variant + tokens. I feel here is where a 1k token amount would fit.

I got so lucky with my pulls, i had 36 reservers saved up, and on my first spotlight i got Jean, on my second i got Kang from the mystery (keep in mind i was missing only 6 cards at the time, kang, Galactus, Snowguard, Jean, Jeff and Stegron), and i really wanted the Knull variant, so i opened another one, and i got that one as well. Now the Tribunal is sitting up there lonely, while i collect my next weeks spotlights, for that juicy Echo and maybe some more cool variants.

With Cozy's fantastic help in his previous video, unlock 5000 tokens 1 series 4 card, multiple series 3 cards (I'm still not even close to series 3 completion, but have Mystique, Knull, Death and Mr Negative now) and great variants from the old caches. These new normal caches seem...terrible? At best a "feel bad".

You should make Dan Hipp specific decks. Then you would have a reason to use them over some other variants that are clear favorites and you usually would use. Flexing with my Hipp deck is always fun!

Im running it off cards to upgrade. I have all my cards color matching and upgrading them further makes them ugly. I hope they make an option where you can change the border if you have Ajay upgraded it for a card. They also should not give a variant of a a pool 5 only card you have if you convert. If not then a couple thousand tokens

The new sistem was kind to me , I've got from the spotlight caches firstly Knull and then Jean Grey , basically the two cards that I've wanted , so I still have two spotlight caches saved for the next week , maybe until then I manage to get four again to 100% my chances . I had what I consider wonderful RNG. I am a collector at heart so I had saved all Caches since they announced the change and got the final five Pool 3 cards I needed. For the Spotlights, I hit Jean on the first pull but continued on and got the Knull variant and Kang on the third pull. I know Kang is meh but to get a 6k card was worth if for me.

I am a casual player. So i only got to my first Spotlight Cache yesterday with 24 hours left after burning through all my gold. I of course got the Living Tribunal as well. The disappointment was the same as you. The difference being that was my only chance at Jean for now. And with the new lesser amount of Collectors Token, I don't see me getting her any time soon. I opened two spotlight caches, the first was the random s4/s5 card in Darkhawk, which I have already and turned into Dan Hipp Nightcrawler. Felt really bad. The second cache was Jean Grey, what I wanted. Already have Knull and will skip Living Tribunal. Saving two caches for next week and hoping to get Iron Lad. The other weeks I already have the cards, except the new ones, will skip that.

Like you, I got Tribunal when I opened my first Spotlight Cache and Knull the second. I already owed Jean Grey so I wanted the spotlight variant. However, when my card shop updated it gave me the Artgerm Variant Jean I really wanted, the one in the green dress so I don't think I will open anymore. As for pulling cards you already own, I agree with you, convert them to tokens. But I would say give 2000 instead of 1000. Especially in light of only getting 50 or 100 tokens in standard caches. 2000 is not enough to set a series 4 card, but it is enough to make you feel you earned something. Getting a standard variant card when you hit CONVERT is just plain wrong.

My random pool 4/5 card was knull, right after pulling knull from his dedicated spotlight cache, so I got a random kraven variant instead, I really feel like the random pool 4/5 card shouldn't be able to be one of the cards in the spotlight so this can't happen

Maybe its my card hame background but even dreaming of a complete collection in a card game is nuts. So the fact marvel snap lets me get close is awesome

@@jwolf2254 if you remove the spotlight cards from being available in the random cache that still leaves 23 cards that it could be, if you were close to collection complete you would have an extremely low chance of getting a new card, this change would just make it so that people who don't have any pool 4/5s would have a garenteed 4 new cards if they had 4 spotlight caches

to add on to that I am currently 10 cards away from being complete, this would only be a change from 10/26 to a new card to 10/23, 38.4% to 43.5%, that is only a 5 percent difference when you are already down to 10 cards remaining.

I agree the convert should be tokens, maybe half the value of what the card would be (1.5k or 3k)? With how hard it is to get tokens, I think this can help give players at least somewhat of a chance to get cards players want

First pull was repeat nebula, turned into crossbones skin. Second was knull variant. I was honestly hoping for at least tribunal, I don’t like the huge investment for one chance at a pull… it just feels bad.

I spammed Caches to buy Nebula the other day so the Token change feels oppressive. On the other hand, Iron Lad and Echo are the only spotlight I’m that interested in this month and that’s mostly for Lad, so I can save spotlights instead of Tokens which almost feels the same now that I think about it.

I like the Spotlight Cache system, but I do agree that it could used some tweaks and changes. Still, for a first time system, it's not bad.

It's fuckin terrible Not being to get gold in caches and only getting 100 tokens max in caches is complete ass and makes card acquisition even harder

I got LT, the Knull variant, and then Jean and tbh I'm not upset over getting LT. Is it a card that I'll use to get to infinite, nah but it'll be fun to play around with once in a while plus one day it'll be nice to get the spotlight variant so 6k tokens saved.

I don't play Wolverine often. I currently have the baby variant, but I'd absolutely rather have the Dan Hipp. The Dan Hipp looks great for him.
