Some recommendations from a long time troller. First, if you are going to troll a lot, there's only ONE reel to have, the Shimano Tekota with line counter (Any size from 500-800 models depending on how much line out, etc.). A good trolling rod, any quality brand, don't go too long, 7-8 footers work great, if you go longer, it makes managing the fish close the boat difficult, I lost the largest fish of my life at the boat due to a 10 ft. rod and no way to truly manage it close to the net, one barrel roll right at the net and she was gone. Use heavy mono for board rods (the pinch clips will fray braided line) and braided for the down rods or non-board rods. Don't be afraid to troll fast at times in the warmer water. I catch fish at 5 MPH in water temps as low as 60F. Also, know how deep your lures run at line length, get a copy of Mike's trolling guide (whatever volume you can get), or contact the bait maker and just ask them if it's not posted on their website. I have good luck putting baits above and at the depths we are seeing fish and schools of bait. Muskies tend to feed up.

i love seeing the setups and how guys are tackling these fish. The big spread with the boards and clips is super cool. with my boards i have trouble with the line separating from my clip when a fish is on

Agreed excellent video with a mix of action, information and legit trolling knowledge that is only achieved through 1000's of hours on the water. Love the boat ...... we are 1 rod per person.

Hey Brad, what kind of boat is this? I'm looking for something with a open layout that I can musky fish and duck hunt out of being in the 18 foot range. I currently have a 1748 mod v with two pods, but want to go wider and a bit longer for more folks (refugee style!!!). Also, are you running two SI tranducers with those two flotation pods or do you have a single in between them? I really enjoy the podcast and figured you were running a Ranger or other large boat.

It’s a 24’sea ark. They are awesome boats. I run a 621 ranger when casting but this open platform is awesome for ducks/ trolling. I run one transducer as that’s all you need on this side of a boat. Thanks for the comments.
