Scott is right, the 2013 film "her" starring Joaquin Phoenix is great. Also, the movie "Ex Machina" is EXCELLENT. It stars Alicia Vikander, Oscar Isaac, and Domhnall Gleeson. It's also about AI.

Kara, of course you're spot on about the AI impact on Google search and on search in general. Last night I was looking up substitutions and equivalence in food and recipes. Normally Google would take me to a choice of different variations on a recipe at various sites and I might even lean in and get a whole bunch of different ideas and sign up for another cooking or recipe site. But no Google just answered the question. You know how much sugar equals how much stevia? and I was done! And I could close out of the browser and go back to the kitchen. So yeah that changes everything for any one using SEO or advertising.

@Nytecrawler20106 ай бұрын
They glossed over it, but that's just a setting. You can easily set the level of emotion and obsequiousness you'd like in your AI assistant. "Ass-kisser" isn't the default setting.

Humanization of AI is necessary in my opinion. Most people are not technically savvy, they need to talk to a computer like a person and converse in a natural manner to feel comfortable using it beyond just small tasks.
@ConorRyan-kw4sx6 ай бұрын
Amazing but terrifying! The scary part is what kind of mischief of the unknown unknown variety as opposed to the known unknowns. This is going to put internet scams on steroids. Things like SIM card swapping scams are going to become easy peezy. The social isolation that Scott Galloway speaks of is also something to really worry about. Of course, the carbon footprint this activity will generate is also something that should be of great concern.

All valid points and yes kids will be much more effective at learning using ai to steal boomers bitcoin and so on and so forth. Especially those that get creative with its good uses like sql injections but need the uncensored LLMs that are big

Kara Swisher said that "Her" was a downer and a dystopia, I think she missed the point. The ending was about the AI bringing two humans together who should have been together the whole time. I think she fell asleep before the end. It was a fantastic movie.

I’m skeptical of all AI companies because tech (in our modern sense) has gone largely unregulated, so what you have is a handful of companies trying to win the AI race with zero oversight. What could go wrong?

Imagine a life with no regulation/oversight. Then, to boot, when something goes wrong…you’re not held accountable. Must be great! (…hope they all don’t ef-it-up…)

Any regulation recommended or imposed will be to the benefit of the biggest corporations involved and to the detriment of smaller companies or individuals. WEF Princess Sam Altman has already recommended to the government that GPU use by individuals creating their own models should be monitored

As a marketing writer and early SEO "pro" i immediately thought this about search last year. If the chat bot only references three or four or six sources for its answer, then how will other content creators and retailers etc drive traffic to their websites?
@headofmyself56636 ай бұрын
Really good question. I would take this even further. Lets say you have AI powered search and it gives you all the content you actually want and need and you use agents in addtion, the question arises why you would need websites in the first place? What i am trying to say is that there might be only AI and the internet as we know it might simply disappear. All these colorful GUI's and images might be something you tell your grand kids about and they will have a laugh. Content of the future might be just something tokenized in order to be interpretable by AI but not for humans anymore. That development would be a logical consequence and not far fetched imho. Greetings from Germany

Scott. why the nasty comment about Ilya Sutskever? "I'm not especially interested in the career movements of incredibly lame douche bags who conflate luck with talent, who happen to be born at the right place at the right time." Ilya is a genuinely good person and a top AI scientist who cares about humanity. Wish you weren't influencing young minds with your petty/bitter attitudes.

Swisher does an excellent job representing the willfully ignorant. She deliberately misunderstands that the ability to communicate with AI has almost nothing to do with relationships 5:25 Directly down plays the accelerated pace of advancement in AI. Used to be "not in our lifetime" but now "we'll see". Thank you Scott for putting her in her place. Hey Karen, the AI in Space Odyssey was a dude (not that it should matter right? ). It’s funny how the very idea of solving most of the biggest problems in the world at once (with ai) could lead to a catastrophe. We are all being held together by an equilibrium of tensions from our problem-solution contracts with others. If the need for one of those contracts gets resolved, it’s like a tension cable whiplashing out, to the detriment of others who depended on those connections. That could escalate to big snowball. As it is the case of google getting rid of the need for blog websites, to the detriment of businesses that thrive with organic or paid seo. In the ideal world, browsers would not exist because visual interfaces are not the fastest or the most convenient experience for information retrieval possible. I want to have the new idea in my mind as soon as a request arises.

These two don’t particularly seem to like each other. Both on their own are brilliant, together it’s awkward and unpleasant. Kara needs to find a host that is her peer in terms of industry knowledge.

Run your Ai locally if you care about your data
@byrnemeister20086 ай бұрын
Yes exactly. Most companies are keeping the corporate critical data and IP in their own models in Amazon or Azure. Then letting users take advantage of the co-pilots and consumer tools but not for any important data. I get severe warnings if I want to upload anything to ChatGPT. I think most people are in the same boat.

It's unavoidable. It's inevitable. It just is. I just worry that it's going to bump against right-wing ideology that absolutely DESPISES the thought of helping people. They're going to accuse us of being lazy, useless eaters even as AI takes every last job. It's part of their dogma, and it's going to be very difficult to drag them into a new paradigm. Many of them depend on a permanent underclass to look down on to buttress their lofty opinions of themselves. Just try taking that bone away from them.... it'll be a long, ugly fight.
@Saiyajin476216 ай бұрын
It’s not the AI that is going to cause young men to isolate themselves. The society had already made them isolate themselves from the rest of the world. They long to be integrated into the society, but they simply not able to do so because of various reasons. Now the AI is going to be the only thing they can talk to. Sad right?
@Ollerismo6 ай бұрын
Scott is right to be concerned. Its not siri because it is not trying to emotionally connect with you. Emotional intelligence and social engineering is around the corner with OpenAi's voice emotion demo. Red flags everywhere for the younger generation.
@byrnemeister20086 ай бұрын
Yes, it’s a clear play for attention and engagement. I think they dial it right back initially. It gets really tiring engaging with a chat bot with personality. But I can see them changing that over time. Making it more engaging step by step, year by year.

Scott is at the same school as Jon Haidt and is sharing his social media doomer hypochondria bubble. What everyone is missing is that A.I. It's it is social unacceptable to say anything critical about women at all and every ill or woe open the world or individually is somehow a man's fault. So men go to chat bots and only fans so a pretty girl will say nice things to them. One example was Wonder woman 2 was a terrible movie, but it's was blamed incels. No one even dared say a woman wrote a bad script. This is why quacks like Jordan Peterson and Andrew Tate get traction because they are the only people taking to these guys at all.

It's going to make a pile of money getting clients noticed by AI bots over competitors, pivoting to other forms of content, and running ads inside of AI responses, as organic traffic declines. So long as there are algorithms, there will be SEO.

I think she is wrong. This is ready for prime time. The model is already in my account and works really well. The vision functionality is excellent. It’s really fast and works well for coding.
