i also like making openbsd videos, a good feature of openbsd is that it works well on my nvidia laptop, because since nvidia doesn't work all of the problems are gone :-)

Never tried it before, but... Getting very, very curious about OpenBSD. I might try to install it on my M1 macbook now that 7.1 is apparently fully ready for the M1

I was looking at a pfSense box the other day (FreeBSD-based). And to list the routing table, you would think you would use the “route” command, but no, while that can show/modify individual routes, to get a list of them all you have to do “netstat -r”. Is OpenBSD the same?

Gonna run doas sysupgrade an my BSD VM. But asides from that, can you recommend laptops that actually work relatively well with OpenBSD? I need a new Laptop and I think I am going to use the OpenBSD there as a daily driver.

Usually Thinkpad X and T-series work great as long as they don´t have Nvidia which is a no-go. The most important bit is (again) NO Nvidia and you want wifi & ethernet to come from Intel. OpenBSD´s website lists supported hardware pretty good. Usually everything installs. But one example is a consumer HP laptop I saw. Simple with intel only graphics. But the crappy Realtek wifi will probably never work. Heck it´s hard the get working in Linux even. Another example is that it even installs and work great on most older Macs. But their Broadcom wifi is impossible to get to work. And did I mention to stay away from Nvidia...? ;) Stuff I have runned OpenBSD on with good experience: Thinkpads: X200s X220 X230 X240 R500 Apple (no wifi) Mac Pro 2008 (cd-install only) Mac Mini 2012 iMac 2006 (cd-install only) iMac early 2008 iMac late 2008

Is there a command for updating OpenBSD from 7.0 to 7.1 without reinstalling? Say, like Ubuntu's "do-release-upgrade".

Hey RootBSD, I am going crazy trying to figure out how to set QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=qt5ct in the environment on OpenBSD. I've tried adding it to every file I can think of, including .profile and .xsession. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks mate.
@root_dnb2 жыл бұрын
I've only messed with this a couple times in the past but I think you use the export command, or you can add it to /etc/profile for systemwide environment. Check the environ(7) or env(1) manpages.
