I enjoyed how you come up with the characters in a book. I am a writer and not an illustrator which I regret. Thats for giving your input on a story.

Lynne, you have a delightful accent, I was amazed how you were able to draw me in so easily. I am both a writer and illustrator. I have never tried to sell a manuscript, although, I fill compelled to do so now. Thank you darling.

hello lynne, i am in year 9, and in march, i am choosing my options. my future aspiration is to become an illustrator, therefore i have a few questions. my first is, what should i take for my gcses to become an illustrator? i am fairly good at art but im not sure what else id need? another question on my mind, is where do i go from there? do i go to art college and what should i study? im really unsure! i have one last question which is how do you get a book to illustrate? do you contact different publishers? im sorry for such a long comment but i hope to fulfill my dream job in the future and need a bit of guidence. thanks

Girls can read books with male protagonists because our society praises boys as the strong ones, the ones who go on adventures, get dirty, learn new things, and save the day. Girls, on the other hand, we are merely praised for our looks and being nice. And not a lot people want to read those books, girls included. So I think, as females, we've learned to empathize with everyone, regardless of race, gender, age, interests, etc. Whereas males have been pushed into a box where they can only relate to people who are very much like themselves. I see a boy learn to fly, and I think, "that could be me!" A boy sees a girl learn to fly, and he doesn't care.

I think all children need to stop worrying about adults opinions of boy or girl and who does what. It's sad discussions are even herd when it comes to children. It's what appeals to the child and not what adults force in their ears. I guess I raise my child different. Cuz my son is almost two and has long hair and is adorable either way. Love you all. And great video

Prickly Pincushion in Sweden we have Pippi Longstocking and my 4 year old bor love her! I really hope we can change that and make girls heroes to!!! If we don’t do it, who will??? I’m trying to make heroes in a different way, kind boy heroes and strong girl heroes. And also heroes that have bouts sting and kind. Also make them in to animals and then you don’t have to make them in to a boy or a girl!!! Keep up the good work!!!

I loved the suggestion of having a sidekick for the character, as well as her choosing a boy character, so it is more accessible for boys and girls. Great video.

Ya can't make the character androgynous so that gender doesn't get in the way of kids seeing themselves in the character?
