About OFF GRID with DOUG and STACY:
We moved to our 11 acres in 2011 from a large city in the Midwest with zero carpentry and farming skills. We live with no solar / wind power / public water or well. We share our adventure to a sustainable life, growing our own food from vegetables to meat. We post videos DAILY and they range from HOW TO to EVERYDAY LIFE and NUTRITION on the off grid homestead. We were city folks just like you probably and wanted to enjoy life and have more control over our food. We share food recipes as well as natural remedies.

@@bradkuhlemeyer8422 look at dave-cushman(dot) net website. just about everything there to know about bees. Or best youtube channel in my eyes that explains everything about bees without pushing sales ...look up Kamon Reynolds Tennessee Bees. If you want to keep bees alive listen to Kamon......and treat the bees for mites now which will reflect your winter survival and you may need to feed them now. Want more contacts for info, let me know. There are speakers on youtube like Palmer and others. Just wanting to let you know that I do not get anything for it, if you follow those links. I just hate to see that informatial commercial beekeepers are taken money and only telling half the information to keep bees in good condition.
@MrLugerdog
@MrLugerdog 4 жыл бұрын
@@FloryJohann It is good that you are comfortable and confident in the beekeeping practices you have learned, but it is sad that you have closed your mind to alternative methods. Maybe you have based your comments on Dr. Sharashkin on just this video and are ignorant on the scope of his work and teachings. Is he making a good living selling his books and products? I hope so! It is the American way and profit is not a dirty word, yet he has plenty of free plans and information on his website. I'll be buying some books and using his plans to build a Layens hive to see how it works for me. But I'll have to treat my mite susceptible Italians to keep them alive this winter and hope to catch some wild swarms next spring.
@FloryJohann
@FloryJohann 4 жыл бұрын
@@MrLugerdog I seen more than this video and I hope the book you are buying is not a copy and paste with a bit of re-write from books that where published in the 1940's and 60's like most books out there. A lot of those alternative methods are re-runs from many years ago that where proven mostly not to be so effective . Sorry if I gave the impression that I am not interested in alternative methods. I am always interested in them and I am working on alternatives....like open a hive and working bees at the middle of the night with an flashlight where the bees do not even pay attention that you have the hive open and you are working the hive, which I had success last Monday doing so. Or having alternative ways to stop the 43 bacteria and viruses caused by varroa mites or prevent wet honey ( less than 18% moister) to ferment without having bad effect on bees or humans because there is no actual chemical involved, another alternative thing I am playing with which I will be testing on a hive next year. I do not have problems if someone makes money with bees....but I have a problem if they go on line and telling folks false information so foks lose their bees because of it and then have to go back to buy new bees and or equipment to replace because someone told only 1/2 the storry or strictly lied about it or omitted things, Have a nice day ....sorry this got so long.

What also helps if you are into natural beekeeping, is placing a tiny bit - like a fingerdrop of soap at the entrance. the bees sniffle that up, take the smell all through their hive (natural soap!!! the one you wash yourself with almost all the time) and then they recognise your smell too. making them less agressive towards you.
