I remember saving my lunch money all week and going straight out the door of middle school,walking to the used bookstore that randomly sold mtg in 1994 and buying The Dark packs. Was super stoked to open Rag Man for my mono black deck

One of the major problems opening loose packs of vintage cards is that many of these boxes were mapped out and people would buy boxes, figure out the mapping and then sell the packs they didn't want to get some of their money back.

If you open old packs, you pay for the joy of travelling to the past. Somebody had been storing these boosters for you. Now you have to pay him. If you grade the best cards, you will turn a loss into a win.

I personally don't know if I would ever find enough value or joy in a pack to pay $100 for a pack that can only possibly produce a card w max value $18. In those cases I rather spend $100 on a single that I really want and can see the condition of. I don't mind like 20-40 bucks for a pack of nostalgia , but $40 max is all I'm really gonna pay just to reminisce w no guarantee of value. But maybe that's just me...

@@MrJBrown-ez9gy When did you start collecting mtg? I can understand that collectors want to relive their first booster openings. Time is running fast. Grading is always an option, in order to compensate the high price.

You should adjust the packs so the rare is last. Infinite hourglass and garg gorilla were the rares in ice and and alliances, but showed them first. Helm of Chatzuk was rare in 4th. Etc.....

No steam vent fetches the most money in guildpact but the best pullas are leyline of the void and singularity. Void is used in a ton of combos and is just a beast of a card and singularity breaks the game for most decks.

Dude, pls dont buy single booster packs, they are probably searched and all the valuable packs are opened, you will buy only packs with trash rares, if you want to open vintage booster packs you should buy sealed booster boxes.

CT scannings it or not buying SEALED BOOSTERS , it's anyway more "wise" and "safe" .. There are a huge chance's that the boxes come form a old shop owner who found them into the magazine... And it's way more hard to re-seal all specially the box

That Scars of Mirrodin pack is a promo pack of sort or a scam? I organized DCI tournaments back when Scars of Mirrodin was released and I never see that kind of booster. And I opened at least 10 Booster-Boxes for Prerelease and drafts tournamenta at the time.

I remember when gargantuan gorilla came out I payed almost $20 for it because alliances kept selling out before I could get more than a few packs. It was considered a superpowered green royal assassin. it was not. And no one wanted to use force of will because it made you discard or pay too much for a counterspell. How times have changed Of course I still could get packs of Italian language legends for $12 a pack so things were still good

@@MrBunt I remember how that was the top card of the set. If you didn't pull one you could never find one for sale. & yes that's what people. That requirement to discard a card to play it wore off real quick. but for the disliked at the time force of will it only aged like wine

Sometimes I get the urge to buy old boosters just because I want to relive the experience of opening up Alliances, Mirage, etc. But no way am I spending that kind of money just to get mapped packs.

Workhorse is the suckiest rare in exodus, really sucks that that was the one that was in there. One of the best ever, if you love enchantments that’s your set.

@@vovlasc9817oh all the old style packs like the dark, fallen empires, revised etc are being searched for their rares. Only buy them when they come fresh from a boosterbox.

Urza’s Legacy isn’t vintage, vintage is before the rath cycle when booster packs were 8 cards and there were 68 in a box. Back then if you bought 4 booster boxes you were set. The Urza block is expensive but not vintage, most of those cards are still printed today.

Didgeridoo is on the reserve list. If WOTC ever prints a Minotaur EDH deck or a set focused on them, it will climb in value. Maybe you are trolling....

Yeah it's just sad how polarizing the prices are, the packs are priced ridiculous I'd even say insanely high. In some of the sets the ONLy card worth ANY value might be a $50 card, and they'll sell the pack for $45 JUST BECAUSE THEY CAN lol. After $1k only getting 20-30% of your value back is depressing, there's literally ZERO reason to not just buy singles in most cases unless you ABSOLUTELY just want to build your collection and have no cards, but even still I'd just buy singles.

reminder: never buy vintage single booster packs. the packaging was different then. high chance they were searched or repacked or some other way to toy around with it. high chance u get the shitty pack then the god pack. on the other hand. having near mint , originally packed vintage cards. that is something only very few sellers can do. u have the best quality an the seller-market. have some sleeves ready for EVERY card

Fallen Empires is garbage, the best card in there is high tide, you want that as it’s the only set it’s ever been printed in but it’s not that great.

So much of the pricing is way too high, (like Psychic Venom being put at $4.25 or whatever, when it's a $0.25 card and there so many random edits at seemingly random times. Why was "sigh" edited in or that girl being upset when you were going through the Innistrad commons? What are you expecting to get? A delver of secrets for $0.50?

there was a dude who got very copy of a cheap card (like every copy 100k cards) than left 13 and burned the rest. Most super rarest are just copy's made in chine on the same printers as the og cards. So in the end "IS" there realy any value in cards at all.
