Something you may be interested in is magnet fishing. I did some earlier this year and it was pretty fun. I also bought a metal detector, but I forgot to read the manual and set it up before I tried it out, so it didn't work properly. Haven't used it since then, but I might give it a go again sometime. I'll make sure to read the manual next time though 😂

I found an unused jar of real mayo in my pantry that got behind other things and went unused from 2010. I opened it. It still was like mayo and smelled like mayo but rancid and turned yellow. It hadn't separated yet. It probably takes 20 years for it to separate.

Things that smell fine regardless of how old it is is because it has been long decomposed. Just like potting soil and manure you buy from the gardening store is because it has been fully broke down and decomposed turning in to rich nutrients before it hits the store shelves.

By the way, microscope stuff is cool. Really interesting to see what is in our food at the small scale. Even smooth foods seem to be very coarse in the small scale. Milk seems to be a uniform white liquid but it is a big mix of tons of debris looking stuff on a small scale.

It would be interesting to whip the mixture. Usually the oil and egg combine and make mayonaise. I think it separated and it would be interesting to see wether you could recombine the ingredients by mixing/whipping it

Wow! BHA and BHT! You know it’s gotta be old! Maybe the BHA and BHT preserved it so it wouldn’t smell. But the taste would be vile though if you survived! 😱 My mother’s friend had a bottle of the very earliest version of Coca Cola. She offered me a $20 bill if I would drink it. I said “sure” but my mom said “no way am I going to let let him drink that. I was 15 at the time and I really wanted the $20 bill. I was so disappointed. 🙁
