Cards facing wrong way that’s why there is no gum stain on back of card. Edges and corners of cards show some definite wear. Max Alvis card shows a comical amount of front wear and discoloration. I’ve been dealing in sports cards for almost 35 years. This is without doubt a resealed pack.

That was a reseal for sure unfortunately. The Max Alvis had been around town for a couple of rides if you know what I mean. Also the card number(s) on the back were represented by at least 2 series. Topps released those in maybe 5 or 6 series back then. Typically the last series end up most valuable as there are Short Prints that are highly desirable.

100% resealed pack. A. The gum was broken B. One card had badly touched corners when others had little to none. C. There was no real wax stain on the card touching the gum which after so many decades would have been likely "glued" to it. I hope this was not expensive!
@Notyouraveragewhiteguy

The main problem I had was the gum. The was no residue or staining on the front or back card. No glue residue on the front, the back card was waay to clean for the gum being back there 99.9 percent of the time where the gum is the card is heavily stained. That card was clean

Was 11 than....Had all 5 of these guys at one time or another way back when. 5 cards and a stick of gum for a nickel. How many millions did I squander? The good players got put under the brim of your old floppy cloth/cardboard cap (cap/card sweated through) and thrown out when you went 0/3. The nobody's cards got clipped to the spokes of your bike, flipped, or used when playing colors. Life was simple back then..

I’m in my 60’s… I used to flip these cards in elementary school in the playground. You would flip until you matched a color , and take the pile.. Gambling at its best. Some days you would lose all your cards. When we had to many doubles, we would attach them to our spokes of our bikes with clothes pins 😂😂😂😂.. All the greats were just normal cards .. I have none saved, who knew !

Fun stuff! The good old days! 5 cents for five Topps cards plus gum. I like the way the pennant motif is echoed on the wrapper. Multiples of 5 (card numbers) are considered bigger stars. Multiples of 50 and 100...the biggest stars typically with Topps. I love that long-standing Topps tradition. Card #1 also usually elite. So, Max Alvis is biggest star in this pack.

I bought a few vintage baseball packs. Nothing like that far back. I bought some 82 donruss baseball packs. It was only $5. I know those packs from the 60s and 70s cost hundreds of dollars. That's risky. People dont care aa long as they make money. I go down to the baseball shop every other Saturday or so and buy fresh packs from there. They dont sell super old packs but you can find 1985 on up baseball packs. I've bought 1987 Topps football packs. 1989 fleer basketball. It depends. Sometimes they get real unique stuff sometimes. So maybe they'll have some 87, 88 fleer basketball packs. Nice rip. Thanks for the video

Not to mention the gum looks like it is from at least (2) different pieces of gum and it should have been much Larger. Also, the 4th card looks like there is Wax on it which should only be on the 1st card near the Pack Seal. On a Positive Note, That's one less Re-sealed pack in the world. Believe it is resealed. The clear plastic notwithstanding-that could have been put on there by a collector-no collector would have sold the pack unopened. Only someone who had ensured there were no keeper cards. And second, the gum was broken-probably intentionally so the buyer would notice that If it were all reassembled it would not be a complete sheet which used to cover the cards. These along with the other points mentioned would give me pause. But the end result was the same. I started collecting in the 1950’s and it was seldom that I got any cards of good players. Why? Because most were not known to be good until years after their cards came out. Usually it was like any teams roster, you got a rookie card of somebody never tone seen again, a card from some guy in his third or fourth year batting .250, and maybe sometimes you’d get a guy on the rise and who was clearly above average-a Mantle or a Mays. BTW, I used to be rich…and then lost my cards in a move to a new city in 1959. But I was 10 years old and could get some playing cards to put in my bicycle spokes. My point is, baseball cards are valuable only for the interest and joy of the collector.
