Band oilers are what brass players use to lubricate their valves. Band-oh-LEERS are canvas belts with pouches for ammunition.

This is an M20 ammo can. They came two to an M22 ammo crate. The US gave out old ammo packing equipment to NATO allies after WW2 during the Cold War. Caliber .30 is the military term for the .30-'06 Springfield cartridge. They came in either cartons (240 rounds / 12 x 20-round cartons), bandoleers (192 rounds / 4 x 48-round M1 Bandoleers / 6 x 8-round en-bloc clips each / 1 x 8-round en bloc clip per cardboard spacer), or belts (240 rounds / 2 x 120-round cartons / 120-round linked belt per carton). They stopped packing new ammo in 5-round clips in bandoleers after WW2 (240 rounds / 4 x 60-round M1 Bandoleers / 12 x 5-round clips each / 2 x 5-round clips per cardboard spacer).

02:14 The ammo is new in new cardboard sleeves (Lot HXP 4033 [1971]), but the bandoleers are reused US surplus ( 02:04 ). Interesting. *HXP* (Hellenic Explosives and Powder) is the _Manufacturer Identification Code_ for Pyrkal, the Greek national explosives factory [1908-2004]. *EW* (Eau Claire Ordnance Plant; Eau Claire, Wisconsin [AUG 1942 - DEC 1943]]) * 02:48 Lot 28140 *TW* (Twin Cities Ordnance Plant; Minneapolis, Minnesota [1942-1945; 1950-1957; 1965-1976; 2002-2005]) * 03:00 Lot 41796 (48-round M1 Bandoleer / 6 x 8-round clip). CAL .30 BALL / 8RD CLIPS. * 02:52 Lot 4788 or 4788# (60-round M1 bandoleer/12 x 5-round clips). CAL .30 BALL / 5RD CLIPS. I can't make out the third bandoleer text ( 02:55 ) because of the black ink overstamp. I think it was originally packed in 1954 (I can just make out the digits "54" on the second pouch).

there are still 10,000's of these cans. On a good day you can pick these up for about $215-250 which is about 0.95 a round (also including the price of the enbloc clips). Him getting $10 was a super steal.

@untermench3502
@untermench3502 Жыл бұрын
while back, I bought a can of that Korean surplus 30-06 in eight round clips. I gave most of it away because it was extremely corrosive and the brass was so hard, I couldn't easily run it through the resizing die without a lot of effort. I wonder if the carbine ammo is non-corrosive. US manufactured 30 Carbine was non-corrosive from the start. I had a can from 1940 that was non-corrosive.
@ghostmourn
@ghostmourn Жыл бұрын
@@untermench3502 Oh that sucks! Yeah I think your right about the carbine ammo - I haven't noticed any corrosion at all, I know that can be humidity dependent but Im quite sure its not. Also its my GI carbines favorite ammo by far it chews through it with no issues, unlike some modern stuff I have run

How are the enblocs marked? There are codes on the back of the clips dead center of the circle, usuallt letters and numbers. Us Enbloc collectors can identify what you have. Thanks in advance!
