What were your gpa, sat, and act scores when you submitted them? How was your course rigor and class rank as well? Sorry I promise I’m not trying to be weird at all; I just want to get an understanding because those are literally the exact same schools I want to apply to!!
@milip.6343 жыл бұрын
HAHA not weird at all :) I attend a very competitive high school so I took a lot of AP classes as a means to boost my GPA (like 11 in total). The rest were honors classes. My school didn't tell us class rank unless you were ranked top 10%, so I don't know where I stood in regards to my other peers. My GPA was weighted on a weird scale, so I don't think it would help if I disclosed it, but it was higher than average. Finally, my test scores were also above average, not super awesome, but it didn't matter because literally every school was test optional! Let me know if I forgot to answer something.

@@milip.634 Would I be able to get into the colleges you applied to with a 3.94 unweighted GPA, with a 1220 SAT score, with a 27 ACT score. My rank at the end of this year (junior year) is 97 of 664 students My course rigor is definitely crazy as next year I will be entering my senior year in high school and I will have been enrolled in 22 AP/ Pre AP honor classes from 9-12. And my extracurriculars are up to par as I work for a Soccer facility and work as a Coach. I also volunteer in my community quite a bit and I’m involved in many clubs such as SNHS, NHS, and a couple smaller clubs. I’ve been volunteering since 9th grade and working since the end of my Sophomore year. Also Varsity captain of the soccer team 2x years. How would I fit into the pool of applicants and would I be able to get into the school of engineering or business; as my goal later in life.
@milip.6343 жыл бұрын
My scores were a bit better on both the ACT and SAT, but as I mentioned beforehand, they didn't really count. Your extracurriculars are sure to help you get into college, but it comes down to which extracurriculars fit with what you want to do in the future. I applied for business in every school, and a lot of my classes and extracurriculars fit in with business so I think that helped me. Your essay is also very important, and it should be personal to you. The essay is what most colleges usually look at. Looking at all of the stuff you wrote above, I feel like you would be able to get into TTU, UTD, TAMU, UH, and SHSU. Don't take my word for it, and see if you can talk to your counselor to gauge which ones you could get into. SMU and TCU may be a little more competitive, but with the right essay you may have a good chance. UT is the most difficult, and I got capped so I won't be able to help with that one :/

Since you didn’t have an assigned class rank, did you mark “school does not provide class rank” on the SRAR for Texas A&M? If you did, how long did it take for the class rank part on AIS to show a check mark?

Hey I’m trying to apply to Texas colleges now. My rank is at 10.5% after junior year. Idk if they look at the gpa after junior or if they change your gpa after your first semester senior grades are in. If they do I’ll be top 10% but if not then I’m barely there. I want to apply to UT, A&M, UTD(maybe), and University of Houston. I have a 3.7 gpa unweighted and a 1360 sat and I’m trying to do mechanical or civil engineering. Extracurriculars are basic some volunteering, honor societies, and clubs nothing amazing. Might try getting a job or and internship soon but idk if I’ll handle that pressure. Idk if I’ll do the sat again or if I’ll try the act. I’m so nervous I feel like I’m not going to have a shot at engineering because I’m honestly below average for an engineering applicant. I know UT will be so hard and A&M will be like in the middle and UofH is like a safety. Can anyone let me know what I should do last minute to help bolster my application or any advice on writing essays/ setting up the college application. Honestly the application process is so confusing and my parents have no clue since they’re immigrants. Would really love any advice on how to navigate college applications and whether I should do early action or whatever the other application types there are.

is a and m more of a holistic college and what do the chances of getting into that type of college like if you have good extracurriculars and 6 IB courses but below the desired scores?

For Texas A&M I believe they look at everything, not just at test scores. I just got accepted and my major was approved but I am also transferring. To help for context my GPA for my first two years in college were 3.9, I believed they also took my military experience into consideration because I had seven years but I can’t confirm that. The application process was really simple.

I was not top 10%, and do not know my actual rank because my school only told top 10% their rank. My SAT score fell between 1350-1400, but it did not really matter as colleges were looking more holistically :)

@@milip.634 I'm in the top 20% going into my junior year and i'm aiming for a 1300 SAT score. Do you think I should apply to TAMU expecting to get in with those stats?
@milip.6343 жыл бұрын
Honestly I have no idea whether you will get in or not, but I did learn that the earlier you apply, your acceptance chances may be a little better. I believe I applied somewhere around early October, and I got in (this includes sending in my test scores, transcript, and application) versus other students with similar academic standing to myself who got waitlisted/rejected. But I think if you have a good number of extracurriculars and write a good essay you should have a good chance. And if not, there are always other schools :)

As a current Texas A&M student, if you attend a Texas high school and are at least top 10% of your graduating class, you are automatically accepted to any public university in Texas with exceptions of some like UT- Austin. So, if you live in Texas and attend a Texas high school your SAT score wouldn't really matter since you're top 5%, you would be automatically in! I hope I helped!
@campbellbrickley76332 жыл бұрын
@@aylinmartinez6563 UT has automatic for top 6% so they are also automatically accepted there lol
@lathspell872 жыл бұрын
@@campbellbrickley7633 A&M is similar. Basically, they have a % of students they must accept that must be taken from the Top 10%. However, once they fill that %, they no longer have to take top 10% students. All schools are getting harder to get into every year because the student populations of these schools are not growing at the same rates as the population of Texas. Also, of the two flagship universities in Texas, UT is landlocked and can't really grow anymore. Texas A&M has plenty of space to grow and accept more students. Because of this, Texas A&M has exploded in number of students, but one can argue it is still harder than it ever has been to get accepted into Texas A&M.
@campbellbrickley76332 жыл бұрын
@@lathspell87 I just meant UT Austin does have automatic admission but it’s a lower percent than A&M. A&M’s is top 10% and UT’s is top 6% lol but if this person is top 5% then they would be automatically admitted to both A&M and UT and the other public schools in Texas
