Valuations on anything are usually based on previous sales, but that does not mean that is what it will always sell for. One or two people might have been willing to pay top dollar, which pushes the "value" up, but nobody else is willing to pay that. See it with CDs all the time. Someone says an item is worth $100 so someone sticks it up for that and it never sells. Meanwhile other people see it as an opportunity to sell there copies for half that, which will still net them massive profit from what they originally paid, while the $100 copy just sits there gathering dust. And this in turn drives the value down, which is why you see such massive fluctuations in the Funko market. Believing "market value" as holy bible when selling will nearly always bite you in the arse. This is why when I sell anything that is collectable, I see what other people are selling for (usually on eBay) and then list it at the minimum I am willing to accept and put it up as an auction. And the funny thing is, sometimes the auctions end up going for more than the buy it nows because people get caught up in bidding.

@@frontdoodoo That is defo a benefit when it comes to selling stuff. Have seen KZbinrs sell stuff on name alone before, when others struggle to sell. It's almost like they think they can trust them more. Although going on the amount of shady shit that KZbinrs have done in the last couple of years, maybe that trust level isn't what it was. Even the honest ones will suffer when the shysters ruin it for everyone.
