my parents run a small restaurant and i use to find 90% silver dimes and quarters all the time, customers would literally HAND me 90% silver quarters at the register and i would have a massive grin on my face. Many people don't know about 90% silver. i would also get star notes, silver certificates. it's been harder to find them these days due to the pandemic, there is a coin shortage (limiting the amount of coins the bank will give us) and people tend to pay with debit/credit cards more often these days.
@ngantnier3 жыл бұрын
As far as 40% and 35% silver goes, I think the 40% halves are greatly underappreciated. The war nickels have manganese which makes them very difficult to refine. However, the halves are 60% copper so they're no more difficult to refine than "junk". You just end up getting some extra copper nitrate out of the deal when you cement out the Ag.

I got that exact (empty) Royal mint monster box and ’m still working on filling it with my whole stack. I’m getting close. But it’s bullion, rounds different size bars and my 90%. I just don’t go for anything 40% because It takes up too much space. I do have one war nickel just because I found it so I threw him in the pot of 90%. I have everything sorted in there. Actually just ordered another empty box because I’m getting close and it’ll be my next goal to fill that one up.

@@derricksowers9074 Until you are more familiar with different coins I suggest buying from reputable dealers. One of the best is JM Bullion. Right now they have 1 toz( troy oz) silver rounds of .999 silver for 18.84 including tax and shipping (they always pay that part). SIlver is $17.19 today so that is about 10% over spot price. A silver round is a coin made by a refinery not by a govt. They are nice to collect, come in many designs, and 18.84 is the cheapest price I am seeing for any 1 toz silver coin or bar at the present. I just bought 10 of these coins this morning.

Keep in mind that a coin and a round are different. That’s why a premium is generally added to coins.
@derricksowers90745 жыл бұрын
@@Spegtacular So would the premium also be there if I ever had to sell them? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but are the coins easier to off load "sell"? Or I guess i should just ask why pay more for a coin if it dosen't make a difference on the end. Or is it because more buyers like coin collectors would also be interested in buying them, not just for stacking? By the way thank you @Steve S @SpegTacular for the replies.

What really surprises me are the relatively low premiums on BU 1964 Kennedies!

@Gold Stacking they are beautiful coins for sure but I try to stay away from anything China.

Gold Stacking here in the US, we have good reasons to maintain our anti-china opinions/sentiment! It is difficult to find products which are not made in china - no matter whether it is garlic at the grocery store, shoes for our feet, or cellphones! Also, outside the USA, china holds an unhealthy portion of our public debt; our politicians should have never allowed so much debt to be aquired by other than US Citizens!, but then politicians rarely try to do what is best for their own country anyhow! On top of those problems, we can pile the huge number of counterfeit products (including metals) which china sends to other countries (including the USA)!

where do you recommend getting a huge box of junk silver and how much is a reasonable cost?

You’ll have to watch for the sales on different websites. Check out my others and they’ll help you see where I’ve shopped.

Usually when I purchase large amounts of junk silver, it comes in a cloth money bag

That’s awesome! I like to hand select but one day I may buy one big bag to go through.

You know what works pretty good for coin stacking tubes? Grandma's empty prescription bottles.

I've seen a lot of people use those. I would have to buy some.
