We will report on the opening ceremony of the 13th Shito-Ryu International Karate Tournament held at Sakai City Ohama Gymnasium on Sunday, July 23, 2023.
Since 1997, the Shito-Ryu International Karate Tournament has been held alternately in Japan and overseas at intervals of two years. However, as a result of the worldwide spread of coronavirus infections in 2020, the originally scheduled Shito-Ryu International Karate Tournament in Japan was postponed twice. During this time, there must have been some people who were fascinated by the world of Shito-ryu Karatedo and became a disciple.
I would like to take this tournament as an opportunity to take a new first step together with those who have not met in a long time and those who are new.
This time, the international competition, where instructors and trainees from 11 countries will come together, is a stage that will lead to the realization of a diverse and spiritually rich society, which is a common desire of all humankind. I would like to make this tournament a memorable one, based on the "Five Spirits" inherited from Kenzo Mabuni.
