2021/22 winter big wave season kicked off with a swell that hit Peahi aka Jaws. Featuring surfers like Kai Lenny, Ian Walsh, Billy Kemper, Trevor Carlson, Jamie Mitchell, Luca Padua, Jojo Roper, Francisco Porcella and more.
Big waves and clean conditions made this a paddle day at Jaws.

What is amazing to me that surfers actually rode these big waves where in the past they just held on to dear life . They drop in ,carve the wave tuck into those huge barrels maybe not as deep as you could possibly go but still far deeper than the past . Not sure if the boards have changed much as they look like guns (long thin and fast )

Saw these monsters in Maui when I was living in Kehei 38 years ago. We would hear high surf advisory on the radio and that meant grab your boogie boards and surf boards and head to the beach

All I could say when this video started was, OH F*CK...OH F*CK...etc. I remember when this place was first surfed, and it was said by those guys: one day we'll see surfers actually surfing these waves like 'ordinary' waves. Not just taking the drop and staying away from the lip, but slicing up the wave face. Well it became true. AWESOME FOOTAGE!
