So happy to see great content in my local area! Great video! To answer some questions: I think the amount of pre-ride footage was fine. I like the commentary over riding, and the mic worked well; it sounded great with minimal or no wind noise. I would say, don't time lapse riding, but do put music over it if it seems monotonous or you didn't have anything to say during that point. Also, glad to see the 650 is working well, I saw the Facebook post of your crew riding and knew we were about to get some feedback! Keep it coming!

I think you’ve talked me into the race spindles on my Matryx Indy!
@MunsonMotorsports9 ай бұрын
They're definitely a big change, but they are working as I'd hoped. I would keep in mind the amount of rearward weight bias they'll create and be prepared to have to make some rear suspension changes to compensate if you do go that route. The CC spindle is a much easier bolt on and go route, however they won't give you the gains these race spindles do it right. Worth noting, the 2024 race sled spindles use a different upper ball joint so you need 2023's. I haven't confirmed if the new 2024 race ball joint will fit in the standard trail arms yet, even if it did, it adds another element of cost so the 2023's are still the move for those looking to go down this path.

@MunsonMotorsports9 ай бұрын
This one has the standard KYB's with the 3 position adjusters. I've ridden a couple SmartShox sleds and they do their job for sure, they work very well for a lot of people and being able to switch modes on the fly as conditions change is pretty sweet. If you really start pushing them and you go from stutters to big bumps quickly there is a VERY slight delay you can sometimes feel as they calibrate to the new conditions, but you need to be very in tune with what you're feeling to notice it. It's an impressive system however I do feel it can steal a little bit of the fun factor, but that depends on what you're looking for out of the machine ya know, that part is very rider preference based. I have a very fond memory of ripping a demo sled on the Standard setting through some real trash and being impressed with how well it handled it all, and then after slowing back down, flipped to comfort mode and it was like a pillow again, pretty sweet to be able to do that on the fly.

All I can afford right now is my 07 Yamaha Attak. I could really use your input on how to set up the suspension on it. I do realize it is a heavier sled being the 4 cylider 4 stroke but I am sure it needs to be dialed in a bit and I have very little experience with snowmobile setup. Good job on the videos Keep them coming Something seems off on the skidoo 850 comp Probably should’ve rode it stock before doing the pipe and can so you had something to benchmark off of. I know you were just doing what the customer wants though. I’ve only got 80 miles on mine so far and not a lot of opportunity to open it up but did not notice that laziness when you grab a handful. How many RPMs were you pulling? I would look for a leak near that fitting you tapped on the airbox.
@MunsonMotorsports10 ай бұрын
The JAWS equipped sled would pulll 81/8200 rpm consistently, the stock one was 79/8000rpm. Airbox is all good. The fellow comp turbo that pulled up at the intersection was asking us about pretty much the same feeling, he was coming off one of the Doo mountain turbo sleds last season so was familiar with the powerplant. I'm assuming they're pulling timing at WOT while in break in.

Hey man what exhaust is on the Polaris boost, completely agree it doesn’t seem obnoxiously loud. I was riding opening day too, our truck was the black GMC 1500 minimax at the beginning of the video. Got a Pro S 800 this year and came with a SLP can and was very obnoxious and I felt like “that guy”🤣😂. Love the sound but the exhaust was too loud and ended up putting stock muffler on

I'm real glad to hear you were able to get out that day too! On one hand I feel like it was a cruel tease and we're worse off for having gotten to ride, but on the other man am I glad we made it out haha. As far as the muffler goes, the Boost muffler is one I modified myself, it has very different design than the N/A mufflers but I was able to utilize/modify one of the chambers in it to achieve what I was looking for. I've played with the N/A mufflers as well and have a mod for those too, it's a bit more tame than the Boost but it does give it a little extra tone without being obnoxious. The 650 has the modification done however doing just the muffler mod won't make it sound like the 650 does.

How was the was the new HYGEAR suspension and was it worth the money
@MunsonMotorsports10 ай бұрын
That kit does truly work really well. It does it's job and is worth every penny. It is however hard to say what the linkage by itself did or would do as I made a lot of changes off the get go, but it does indeed *feel* bottomless. I was able to bottom the rear a few times, and while you could tell it bottomed, it wasn't the gnarly jarring/slam effect we commonly think of when bottoming the rear of these. It was so much more controlled on the hit AND the rebound to where you just went "ah yup, bottomed a little bit there" versus the older common "oh man i just blew my spine through the top of my helmet".

Depending on where you ride and what you're looking for it could vary greatly; for average groomed trail riding the Polaris Prosteer is really hard to beat with the Woodys Navigator, I prefer a 1/2" round bar like the SnowStuds Magnum, but they work really well with just about anything, a lot run them with Shaper bars for the extra initial turn in, but I've made that up with geometry changes in the spindle swap on the 650. The SLP Mohawk is the go to aggressive trail/need it to TURN in all conditions ski, it has great characteristics in the deeper/loose snow due to it's width and wide outer wings yet it also still has somewhat lighter steering effort than some of it's other aggressive counterparts due to it's curved keel. There's some additional tricks to keep the Mohawk from darting and steering even easier, but you start getting expensive when you add it all up. I've heard really good reports on the Polaris Gripper ski as well, but haven't had any personal experience. The Curve is a solid option too, I found it to work best on the groomed trail but in a similar fashion to the prosteers, when it gets really deep and loose they have a little more push than I'd like. I could talk skis for hours haha

The front or the rear track shock? I know some of that era Walkers had REALLY stiff adjusters for some reason. You could look into a shock rebuild and ask the builder to inspect/swap out the adjuster with another one, but aside from that I don't have too much feedback for you unfortunately.

Anyone who says anything bad about the comp turbo are called out for bias. I say everyone who owns one isn’t willing to give an honest opinion yet on their very overpriced and overhyped sled. Lets be honest. Its has a really nice shock package, and maybe 15 extra hp, which is gonna turn out to be very dependent on conditions. Ski-doo way over exaggerated the function of the ice system. Na 850’s have struggled with inconsistency for years, this sled is gonna be even worse.
