OPENING DAY TURKEY! This One Was Special

All of the calling, all of the footage from Opening Day of the 2019 Georgia Turkey Season in Booger Bottom. Waddy brings his truck from high school back to Booger Bottom after it was recently restored, and then takes a great friend, Ricky Ponder, out to bust a longbeard! The morning starts off hot but the turkeys just won't work, until after breakfast! This is a special one!

My daddy died of pancreatic cancer and I don’t know how to explain the feeling I had on his last turkey hunt but it’s something I’ll never forget and it lives in my memory every year on that opening day It was always mine in his day and it still is and always will be I love you daddy and thank you for the special turkey hunt it made my day good Shootin Ricky

I've been watching ol Waddy since he won a turkey calling contest in 1994. I said then, that he would make a huge impression on the hunting world, mainly because of his humility concerning the gifts God gave him. I have followed him through the years quite closely. I absolutely enjoy watching the shows, but I much more enjoy the times when Michael is raw with emotion and his passion for the sport and his love for mankind are exposed. These times show that he has not forgotten where he came from and stardom hasn't changed him. I love to watch a career filled with God and family. My hat is off to you sir. Keep the memories going.

Just met him today and I'll tell ya after a whole day of shakin strangers hands and being a little hungry and on his feet, he was the coolest celebrity I've ever met. We was yuckin it up and laughing and joking and laughing about our wives taking over whoopin our butts from our parents lol! My favorite parts of watching this show and him becoming a hero was the time with the people. All the campfires and meals just brings real life to our culture on tv and ol Booger knows how to show it's so much more than just killing one of God's beautiful animals. It is a brotherhood, a culture, and I am so daggum proud to be a part and pass it onto my kids. Thanks Mike!

These type of videos are exactly how it should be. We see Waddy as any normal person like us. Not commercialized and trying to sale us something. Going hunting with a lifelong friend and his Dad. Keeping it personal and down to earth is what it’s all about. Two things in life I would love to do is turkey hunt with Waddy and fish with Robert Arrington. 🤞🏻 great video and thanks for sharing a touching experience!

Nice turkey love what your doing your call sounds good but you use it a lot try calling less I think it would help when their that close they see the decoy they know your their just scratch the leaves when their that close good luck for the rest season

Dude I think he knows how to read a bird and when to call, how loud and when to shut up. Some of that stuff at the end right before the shot is for the show. He’s done dead at that point. Worry about you man !

Every year after deer season ends I know... it's going to be a long wait until opening day of Gobbler here in Pa. Can't wait. I just found and old picture of Michael and I at the NWTF convention that one year it was held in Columbus Oh. Drove 3 hours to hang out there and ended up attending one of Michaels seminars. That was a lot of grey hairs ago for both of us. :-) and a lot fewer notches on that old shotgun.
