So while breakers are a big reason...it still is because of consumers that will buy those spots that cost 1k+ even semi consistently. Now I follow soccer more but there is a guy that buys Juventus in Immaculate cases (about 150 of them) every single time. The spot costs 700 bucks. That is just that poduct. We call him the Yu Bot. (His name is Yu )

I know that for example, wholesale, for a full case of Prizm football (12 boxes of hobby) was 1475 which comes out to 122.91 per box. Wonder if shops and breakers that get the best deals from Panini Wholesale get them for like 2k. Curious.

Mims will be an all star 3 years from now for a decade straight! I've followed him closely. His lack of productivity last year was injury and him being eased into the NFL. I'm loading up on Mims cards and Zach Wilson. They didn't want to burn Mims out as a rookie or extend his minor injuries

They are considered 1/1 even though there are multiple of each. It goes by the color ink that was used per plate. I don't know if that was what you were asking.

The hobby became popular due to nostalgia for cards that people associated with their childhood, and prices were dictated by demand for items that were rare due to lack of preservation as opposed to low production. The current state of the hobby is a joke, with insane money being spent on pieces of cardboard with pictures printed on them by a company last week. The companies are making idiots out of us all and laughing all the way to the bank while they do it.

So glad I stay close to 2 NBA and NFL teams. I just take my cards to the games and let the players sign them. Free of charge 🤣. Quick story I took my kids to the Lakers vs Hawks game. I ask LeBron to sign my card, he said that he doesn't sign cards. But after the game, he gave my two boys his jersey and shoes and autograph them for my boys, also Ja Morant did the same thing. Ja Morant also mailed me a signed rookie card in mint condition after I told him I was from Augusta, GA when we were at the Grizzlies vs Hornets game. The trick is to get to the games early while the players are during shootarounds or on the field practice. Hell I even got a an autograph Luke Kuechly jersey from Luke and I'm a Falcons fan😭. My son kept saying Lukeeeeee, LK stopped took his jersey off pointed to my son, and the security guy ended up bringing the jersey to my son and it was autograph. ( Hope to see you on the field)

Anyone with a brain understands opening packs/boxes is a loss 95% of the time. Buying and selling cards, however, can bring a big ROI, depending on how well you understand the market and if the market breaks your way. Therefore, you can invest in cards and still not consider it a “hobby”. Stocks and cards are essentially the same thing if you are doing it purely from a financial standpoint.

@@cashrules520 well no shit. The more money you invest, the more money you can earn from that investment, that’s just common sense. Of course a full time business will have a higher possible profit margin compared to something you do in your spare time. The point is you can still be into cards and consider it a side hustle or, if you choose, a full time job (if you are very successful at it). It is not necessarily a hobby anymore, as seen by some KZbin channels. Personally, I enjoy it from the hobby standpoint as well as making a little extra cash here and there.

This hobby is strange now since when I was a kid. Seems like only dealers and big name people ever get the chance to break these cases, normal people don't get access to these. Then they try selling some of these "big pulls" for insane amounts, further alienating common collectors that can't afford their insane asking prices. I'd love to open boxes and give the cards to kids but I can't find one to buy at all. Just another industry killed by bots, scalpers and "personalities"
