Miss that old bridge even tho it would've probably collapse like the bridge in Minnesota in 2007 if it was left up longer but the new one is very cool

John, I worked at this bridge & trust me that Gov. Andrew Cuomo , son of Mario Cuomo, did a lot to bring this project alive. It was battle ten long years plus four to built this new landmark of NYS.

You are not right. Movable barrier will be use even after completion Eastbound bridge, for instance to closed some lane for maintenance. In addition they are universal and can be use in another construction roadway projects.

Строительсво моста очень строго контролировалось Агенством по Охране Окружающей Среды ( АООС) которое настаивало на $511 млн. сомпенсации экологии реки. Из них $48 млн. на защиту рыбы от "шума подводного строительства" (ты бы могла себе такое представить на нашей бывшей Родине) $1,2 млн. на восстановление устриц, и т.д. и т.п. Все было очень не просто

The construction of the bridge was very strictly controlled by the Environmental Protection Agency, EPA. The authority said other environmentally useful projects that could be paid for by the $511 million included $48 million for fish protection from underwater construction noise, $1.2 million for oyster bed restoration, $29.9 million for “armoring” the river bottom after dredging & etc.
