Hell no.. its the first to shoot it , not the last. Obviously you don't hunt in groups alot or wheres there's alot of other hunters. This happens all the time. Your logic makes no sense and I would laugh at you thinking because I shot one first, and because I shot it, it runs to you and tou do too, thats 100000000% my buck. Wonder if that one guy that shot the buck across the bean field realizes that deer was still alive when he was holding onto it. It was still moving it's eyes and mouth, I'm guessing broke it's neck from the trajectory of the bullet that can be seen.

That last buck that was taken- 180yrds I think you said. What caliber/bullet weight/number of clicks? I used my 500 Automax this year in IA on a doe at 175 yrds, did the ballistics beforehand- using a 350gr Sierra JHP- gun was zeroed at 100yrds, needed 15 clicks to put it on target. I know you guys were in IA so I'm guessing 350 Legend, 450 Bushmaster??

Following up the shot is more important than turning your back on the deer that just dropped. Many times a deer is shocked by a hit, only to jump up a few moments later to run off, never to be recovered. Shoot, reload and focus on the animal until you are certain is it down and out. A couple years ago a couple of fellows in a HP video did just what you did, shot, turned around and high fived for the camera and took all their attention away from the deer that dropped. When they went over there all they found was hair, a little blood, but no buck, and never did after that. Make the hunt and kill more important than all the antics post shot. Please, gentlemen, show that you are doing this for the love of the hunt, instead of the camera. Don't let the quarry get away while you celebrate prematurely.

Loved and watched THP for years. This is easily the worst episode I've ever seen and not representative of good ethics and safety. Running with a gun, poor muzzle control, safety off, border line skyline shot, not knowing your complete target. This is just really bad and the kind of stuff antis like to see. If you need guest videos, do more with Ted Miller or Greg Clements. Looking forward to the next one. On a positive note - good call to let the girl have the deer.
