The Deer ribs work so well because it's so greasy it creates a oil slick and makes it easy for the crabs to find. If you've ever ate a Deer rib you'll know it coats your whole mouth with a greasy film. Like the video, thanks for sharing.

Awww Man hate to hear you can't eat shrimp anymore. My wife grew up in Orangeburg SC . She ate shrimp all her life growing up then one day when she was about 20 years old she ate some that like to have killed her. She had become allergic to them and her throat swole shut on her,. lucky they were able to get her to the ER and get some meds in her to save her life. You will never regret spending time with your dad and making those memories, I wish I could spend one more day with mine.

Great video guys! Our shrimping up here is done quite differently, but our coastal waters are colder, deeper and very few flats. I really like to see how you folks do this. Funny that the commercial guys are all worried about some recreational fishing, ain't nothing wrong with a person catching and eating their own food.

Used to do this with my wife driving the boat in Bulls Bay. Had our best catches at low tide rising. Didn’t do any night time and still brought in 48 quart coolers full. We always mixed about a half gallon of menhaden oil with our clay and meal. More smell to attract them. Miss doing this but too old to throw a net. Back can’t handle it anymore.

Not trying to be a know it all but have pole bated shrimp for years . If you caught all those on 11 bait patties you did well. They may have gone away when the bait went away . We always start out with 2 patties in each pole and re-bait after 3 or 4 passes . Crabs and fish love the bait too as do porpoise . We will easily use 30 to 50 patties a trip. Bulls Bay is awesome shrimping Big P. Also I have known people to be allergic to shrimp only to find out later on they aren't anymore . Get some benedryl and try a few , if you have a reaction the benedryl should take care of it .
@bigpenselsoutdoors97935 жыл бұрын
John Forrest you must mix your bait differently than we do because we use the same bait balls for whole coolers all the time all we ever make is 10 balls and have shrimped sometimes three to four hours on those same balls pull them up in the nets several times the shrimp just wasn’t there yet couple more weeks and they will show up

Big P, Why can't you eat shrimp anymore?
@tomstclair9615 жыл бұрын
Ok big P! Here's a little secret trick so you dont loose your marker poles anymore.. You know the black flexible foam insulation they put on A/C copper lines on a air conditioning unit or hot water heater pipes.. Well you cut a few small pieces of that stuff about 3 inches long and then push your poles right up through the center of them and then silicone or duct tape them in place.. put them about 4 Inches apart above the water line on the pole .. so when the pole falls over it will stay floating and you can find it again.. You can also paint them with high viz paint and put reflecting tape on the foam too so you can spot them with a light really well.. Ok buddy, good luck!!

Is it legal to tape your nets in S.C. ? You’ll catch twice the shrimp per throw. Keeps the net wide open till it hits bottom. We’ve tried both ways down here in fl. Just curious if they allow it.

You drop your bait balls beside the pole , that way you know where to throw your net to catch the shrimp that are attracted to the bait. They spread the poles out about 25- 30 feet apart , You are allowed 10 poles . You start at one end and go by each pole and cast the net. They work back and forth up and down the line of poles until they get their quota of shrimp or until they get wore out lol . Big P can correct me if I said anything wrong in the post .
