Another great review mate For those wondering what the livery issues are, see below... The loco numbers on the side are too big The red stripe is too narrow The yellow ends are far too dark, looks out of place when parked next to another diesel. However the model is fantastic and the errors can be sorted out with a partial respray. It's also worth mentioning that the spinning fan can cause severe running issues when the model has been used for a few months.

Based on the original review alone I searched for a Class 50 'Dauntless' at the sort of price you paid for the best part of 4 years, glad to say I finally found one and it really is something special, thanks for the review Will, this and the original one.

I've never seen a chassis mounted NEM pocket before and the motor/mechanism is very impressive too. I can see why this model got full marks. It's amazing how far Hornby, and model rail in general, has come in my lifetime. N gauge especially in the last couple of years, since Bachmann took over Graham Farish

Awesome locos the 50s, even though I've had bad luck with the lights & fan, lol, they run so smoothly & are nice & quiet, & loads of power! Great redone review!

I don't have any diesels on my railway apart from a Bachmann class 03 shunter (which I highly recommend, It has cab lights!) so this would be a great model for my railway.

Just bought a Class 50 based on this review! Excellent model, managed to get hold of the weathered version 50 002 (rather ironically called 'Superb') at a good price as they seem to be hard to get hold of now. I usually buy Bachmann now but this is a fine effort from Hornby - if only everything they did was of such high quality. And you're right everything down to the packaging of this model is a cut above what they usually achieve. My only one criticism is that the couplings on the rear of the loco often lock up on curves. I think it's getting caught on the buffers, oddly doesn't happen the other end of the loco. Anyone find this?

Hornby is generally better than Bachmann money wise for the people who don't have much they can buy the. cheapo models and weather it and add some details and make it more realistic and then their hornby premium models are forth people who love excellent models amd can afford them

The class 50s are one of my favourite diesel electric locos. Can you do the class 35 HYMEK / 42 WARSHIP / 52 WESTERN and a Beyer-Garratt.
@Matthewmodeller22911 жыл бұрын
1. The blue is too light, the grey is too dark and the red stripe is a little too thick. 2. Why are loco mounted couplings better than bogie mounted ones? 3. What was the black thing that fell out just before looking at the NEM couplings? 4.That shot at 19:13 would look amazing with two long trains passing eachother in opposite directions going at high speed. 5. Morley Controllers are worth a look at. I've got a four track model called the Vortrak which is DC, but they do DCC ones too.

Personally Hornbys locos aren't my first choice as usually they are lazy on the tooling (class 90, class 87) but there super detailed models really do give Bachmann a run for there money and this is certainly model I like!

If the loco needs oil to be added to it, not the easiest of tasks, and TLC to get it running well, is it fair to give it it perfect marks? I would expect a perfect loco to be ready to impress me right out of the box. Hello from Toronto.
