My genuine first thought when it cut to the bathroom clip (before you even mentioned your skin) was that you looked great and I loved seeing the new brows with no makeup. Just a reminder of how harsh we can be on ourselves when others view us so much more positively!!

Thank you for opening up about your skin. I have also suffered for many years with flares of bad adult acne. Then about 6 months ago I developed rosacea. How unfair! I worry about sounding shallow when I tell people how much it gets me down, but it does affect my mental health pretty negatively. My skin is the first thing I think about when I wake up in the morning. I have cancelled plans because of it and spent many days obsessing about what people must think. Basically, i feel you! Thank you for making me feel less guilty about my own anxiety over my skin. Maybe it IS ok to tell people that “it gets me down!!”. (P.S. this is the first comment I’ve written on any KZbin video EVER).

I relate to what you said about your skin being the first thing you think about, when you get up. When I look in the mirror my spots are the first (and sometimes the only) thing I see. And I stress about other people also seeing it immediately when they meet me. I'm trying to get out of this headspace, because there is more to me than just my skin. I am a valuable human being and so are you. :-)

Esthetician here 🙋🏻‍♀️ make sure your esti is not using steam in your facials! I would also avoid using hot water on your face at home (warm is ok). Gentle cleanser, calming ingredients (aloe, chamomile, etc.) try not to vigorously scrub your face. SPF & drinking lots of water are the obvious tips 🫶🏻 Food and environment can be triggers too, so paying attention to everything from what you ate to where you were could also help you find some answers! I’m so glad you’re accepting the skin you’re in! “We can’t hate ourselves into a version of ourselves we can love.” ❤️

I feel like I've been commenting this on so many peoples' vlogs lately but it's wild that we are taking skincare advice from influencers (you're not giving the advice, tbc). There is so much consumerism in skincare. Like if it's fun for you, go off. But if you want real advice... go to a dermatologist! The products they give you will be waaaay cheaper and more effective than what some random person on the internet is telling us "works" for them. Talk to a professional (if you have health insurance)!

Fellow rosacea sufferer here! I use the same vanicream cleanser and La Roche Cicaplast and very little else to calm a flare. If you haven’t tried Cicaplast, it’s a godsend! Wishing you luck in figuring out what your skin can tolerate-as others have said, simplicity is key. Focus on moisturizing and healing your barrier.

Hi! Rosacea also run in my family, and over the years I have learned that the simpler the skin care, the better! I use almost only Cetaphil and CeraVe products, they are dermatologist tested and very gentle and effective. The most important thing to me if I do try another skin product is it has to be UNSCENTED!! Perfumes/fragrances makes my skin awful so I would recommend maybe to try an unscented skincare routine to see how you react to it! 💕

Talk to a dermatologist! I’ve been working with mine since I started puberty and started having acne. From the start he recommended cetaphil face wash and lotion and colorscience as sunscreen /makeup. I didn’t actually start implementing what he recommended till a few years ago, but I wish I did sooner. Very basic but it works for me.

fellow rosacea girly here! I have tried SO MANY different skincare products, most of it irritating my skin. My biggest tip is keeping it simple! Dont layer on the skin care, 1-2 layers (serum and/or cream) thats it. Some of my favorites are La roche posey toleriane creams, bioderma sensibo serum and cream, vichy 89 serum and a Vitamin C serum (good ones from Avene and la roche posey). xx

I have rosacea too. I agree with all the comments saying that keeping your skincare as simple as possible is really important. I just wanted to add that abstaining from certain foods has been really helpful for me as well. Especially anything containing tomatoes and cheese, sadly those two things really cause my skin to flare up. I hope this is helpful for someone😊

Another Rosacea girlie here 👋 Just wanted to share some of what I've personally learned on my skin journey. For me, I've found my skin doesn't like added fragrance nor niacinamide. Simple formulas are always better since there are less irritants. Sunscreen is an obvious must, and the one you're using is my new Holy Grail! Chemical sunscreens are more irritating to rosacea. Mineral sunscreens are better, but Korean sunscreens for me are *chefs kiss* Sun and exercise are my biggest flare up triggers. After 16 years of dealing with my redness I got to the point where I just dgaf. I do what I can and try to not let it get in the way of living my life. I still get irritated when ppl point it out and ask if I'm ok, but that's alright. And I definitely will put on makeup if I'm seeing ppl for a social event. But everyone's journey is different, and full of highs and lows. Hopefully, we are able to just spend more time in the acceptance zone 😊 much love to the rosie cheeks girlies 🌹

That reminded me: one time I wore foundation to this meeting where I knew something upsetting would come up. But then two of my friends who were there said loudly, "Oh look, you're wearing makeup! You never wear makeup!" You can't win.🤦‍♀️ Now I just use a little mineral makeup (bare minerals summer bisque) to cover the reddest areas if needed. It would be great if people would just stop commenting on others' appearance, but that'll probably never happen. I actually loved the mask era for this reason.

Really appreciate the transparency about your skin! I don't have rosacea but I do have acne scarring and dermatillomania (compulsive skin picking) and until 1-2 years ago I couldn't even go to the post office or supermarket or a walk in the park without makeup I felt so uncomfortable and self-conscious. But over the past year or two I've been going more and more places without it just casually and I feel so proud of myself. I literally was in TK Maxx recently with my partner and said to him I can't believe I'm here with all my skin out... It kind of seems silly sometimes but yeah definitely not alone.

Yes to the “hand-tied” extensions! There are a lot of different “methods” out there, but they’re all relatively similar, some just work better on different scalp types. I wouldn’t recommend NBR (as a former client) and don’t be turned off by machine-tied hair, either. The weft seam can be made thinner but have more hair in it, so it’s actually sometimes better on people with fine or thinner hair. I think you will love this method! My favorite is IBE (invisible bead method) - I would recommend going to their website to find a stylist if you want to keep looking around! But I hope who was recommended is a good fit 🫶🏼

Hi Carrie! Thank you so much for sharing about your rosacea. I've struggled with acne, hyperpigmentation, and eczema at different points in my life. It can be very frustrating and can make you feel very insecure. That's normal and okay. But, I would say, when I finally stopped caring what other people thought and stopped wearing lots of makeup to cover up, I felt SO much more free. I felt so trapped by needing to always cover my skin. What helped me was starting by wearing a BB cream and mascara every day. Now I just wear my Skincare and a tinted sunscreen everyday and I've never felt more free. You've got this Carrie, you're beautiful with or without makeup. I love that you're using vanicream, I also use vanicream! So gentle.

GIIRRRLLL. Hand tied extensions are the BEST! They will be tight on your head at first, but after a day or two they feel so natural. I feel like I wash my hair less bc I’m touching my root area less. Also you can ask them to leave a “part” down the middle of your head in the back that they don’t place the extensions on so you can do pig tails or braids and they don’t show. They’re reusable and I believe easier to care for. I sleep in a Low loose ponytail with them and they hold a style SO well. I think you would love them!

I feel your struggles with finding confidence in your skin. I don’t have rosacea, but I regularly get hormonal breakouts around my jaw and I have really bad eczema on my hands. It gets tiring having to constantly fight your own skin. I just try to take it one day at a time and just try to be grateful that my body is overall in relatively good shape despite all my skin conditions (I also have HS in my underarms 🤪) and everything else I have going on medically. We’re honestly handling everything really well sis, it just feels worse when we ruminate. ❤

This might be a hot take, but I've found personally the more "skincare" I use, the more breakouts I'd have. When I got pregnant in 2021 I stopped using all skincare because I didn't want to risk using something that wasn't pregnancy safe. After 3+ years of washing my face with water, using a light sunscreen and occasionally a cream to hydrate, my skin has never been better! Makes me wonder how much is actually just marketing nonsense.

Carrie! have you considered trying clip in extensions? they are much more affordable and they last for a long time so are more worth the investment, you can take them in or out whenever you want to switch up your look or to avoid getting a headache from having them in 24/7, and you can easily place them differently on your head in order to wear your hair in various styles which you can't really do with the tape ins or handtied (like clipping them all at the crown of your head to do a cute high pony or bun) plus you have the option to only put in a couple tracks, or put in the whole entire set depending on how thick you want your hair to be that day! I highly recommend bfb hair clip in extensions, the brand was created by the influencer Amber fillerup clark, she also created the brand Dae haircare, I use these ALL the time on my bridal hair clients and I LOVE THEM !

I have the same type of rosacea that you have!! I literally can only use very VERY minimal skincare (I stick to cerave). And also my dermatologist prescribes me metronidazole gel and I mix a small amount of that with my moisturizer in the morning and it completely takes care of it!! If I don’t use it for a few days, it immediately comes back. But I just keep it with my moisturizer and if you mix it, you can’t even tell you’re putting anything different on. Hope that’s helpful!

I have rosacea too and less is more. I also have ADHD and cannot have any sort of complex or lengthy skincare routine LOL. I will literally just wash my face once a day - usually after working out in the AM, and then I use an expensive moisturizer that isn't too light or too heavy, no scents. Sometimes I will use a retinol serum at night if I remember - retinol has really helped with my rosacea too! I don't typically wash my face before bed unless I have makeup or sunscreen on. Sunscreen is another tricky thing - so many of them irritate my skin. I just think of rosacea as extremely sensitive skin so limiting the amount of products I put on my face, finding the right products that don't irritate my skin, not over cleansing, and a silk pillow case have really helped.

Hey Carrie! I also have rosacea and have been dealing with breakouts lately so i’ve been going through the same feelings. For me, what has helped me with reducing the redness and spreading has been a.) vitamin C! I take gummy vitamins in the morning and have noticed a difference so far! (and vitamin c is proven to help reduce inflammation and acne scarring). and b.) less exfoliating! that could be a reason why you felt getting facials was making it worse. I was definitely over exfoliating my skin and noticed that it was just constantly red and I was still breaking out and I was feeling very frustrated. Once I stopped exfoliating it every day i noticed it also started to look less red! Anywho, not saying this will work for everyone because everyone’s skin is different, but I just thought I would share because I have been dealing with the same exact feelings of insecurity as you. I feel compelled to reply because I had horrible rosacea years ago and what helped the most is cutting down on the amount of products you use and finding what actually works for you from a dermatologist. Cerave is my go to honestly and I've stuck to it for years. I also reccomend IPL lasers that made the most difference in my skin and the results have lasted years. I feel comfortable without makeup and most wouldn't even be able to tell I have rosacea anymore.

I have rosacea too. It sucks and makes my face hot and makes me miserable. Right now I’m treating it an antibacterial gel, the most common treatment, I think. I’ve also been told Afrin, the nasal decongestant, can be put on your face and helps with the hot feeling. It makes things a little bit more bearable. I just asked the pharmacist who owns a pharmacy nearby and she gave me a little list. I’ve also seen a cool info graphic on what works for what different kinds of skins. If anyone is interested, just reply to me because I don’t have the info on me right now. So, one day at work, I was really down about my skin, and this black man heard me complain about how I hate my red skin. He told me my skin is beautiful, and he was so sweet I never felt self-conscious again. Now I rarely wear foundation but want to get to the root of the problem.

I find that aloe vera gel and also a bit a jojoba oil heps with the burning/irritation sensation.

I have rosacea too Hun. I totally understand 🫂❤️ People with rosacea usually have the most sensitive skin. So keeping it simple is the best thing you can do for your skin. A lot of expensive products have lots of ingredients and actives that you might react to.

I’m experimenting with Castor oil you may want to consider trying it in a small area. It’s taking toxins out on my stomachs and feet etc. I use it on my face at night. This is only week one. Take care

Thank you so much for talking about rosacea. I have it myself, got diagnosed with it last year. I was so happy that I finally got rid of my acne with Tretinoin (At the age of 26!). But after tretinoin it didn't last a month and rosacea came. :(

Seeing you make your passion fruit lemonade was so funny to me because in my house, that amount of passion fruit, lemon and sugar would have easily made 2 liters of juice. We like our juice, specially if it's a citric fruit like lemon or passion fruit, a lot more watered down. I find it delicious. I'm from Venezuela, and that's the way I've seen it done everywhere around here!

As a fellow mid 30s lady. Skin issues are so irritating because we were always told “ by your late 20s all of your skin issues will be gone.” I have cystic hormonal acne at 36 while on birth control and I feel so gross next to my friend who don’t even need make up but I have these flare ups during ovulation and my period. I have tried so much but nothing is working. I have noticed the same with using less products helps. Good luck to you. You are stunning!

Carrie with my skin I have learned I am reactive. I have honestly become so annoyed by the “10 step skincare routine” getting pushed on social media, as it’s made me feel like I need to use all these different products - but turns out, I react to everything. Developed sensitivity to hylaronic acid, can’t use retinol, can’t use glycolic. I break out and get eczema. Now I use the simplest things, QV cleanser (Australian but similar to Cera Ve) and Aveeno body moisturiser on my face. My skins never been so clear! I blame social media for thinking I need to use a billion things.

I've always had THE WORST skin... Still do. Seems like the more I mess with it or spend trying to clear it up, the worse it gets. It's soooo frustrating! I'm almost 40 and I still have breakouts like a teenager! My body skin is even worse... Wish I had a magic wand to clear it all up!! You're not alone!

While I don’t have rosacea on my face, I have it all over my upper arms. It makes me not want to wear tank tops/sleeveless dresses. I’ve had it my entire life and it’s probably my biggest insecurity. Sending you all my love ❤
