I can't even describe how much this video helped me today. Three years ago, I was in a relationship with that one boy. Our relationship lasted almost three years. He cheated on me and we had a horrible breakup. I even started self-harming. I wasn't able to get myself together for months after the incident. After I finally got over him, I met the kindest and the cutest boy ever! We've been together for a year and a half now. He never gave me any reason not to trust him, but I have horrible trust issues, especially because we are in a long distance relationship and I miss him so much. I am suffering from really, really bad relationship anxiety and I'm having panic attacks almost every day due to my overthinking and worrying. My boyfriend is very supportive and he treats me the best way possible. Today I had a huge panic attack again. Then, I saw your video and it made me cry. Omar Sykes I think it’s not very responsible to tell the world (especially with thousands of prople watching) that you just do not believe in contraceptives. I understand that married people do not use contraceptives as they are with one partner for the rest of their lifes and would be okay with having a baby anytime. But it’s not the ‘believe’ thing you should discuss. People should use it and it works. Not using it leads to a lot of problems. Especially if they are not married.

Omar Sykes Yeah, of course it’s not right to just tell people to use it because it works. But if young people who are not married are having sex, I think it is a good advice and would say that a lot of people would recommend it to their children if they knew their teenage kid was having sex. And I believe J&G would say it to their future children too, once the children will have sex in not a married relationship and not just ‘believe’ that it doesn’t work and let their kids have an unprotected sex.

I understand that not using contraception and trusting in God's timing is your personal choice. And I do not take any issue with it. You do you! However, I don't think with the amount of subscribers (and young subscribers especially) that you have, you should be spreading misinformation about the effectiveness of contraceptives. To say that "there's actually a large margin of how little they work" is not accurate information to be sharing. When used correctly the implant is 99% effective, the patch is 91% effective, the pill is 91% effective, condoms are 85% effective, the IUD is 99% effective. To be sure, no birth control is 100% effective apart from abstinence, but ALL methods of birth control are more effective than not using any. It is so important to practice safe sex. Condoms don't just protect from pregnancy, but also from STD's as well. I enjoy your content, but I think it is so irresponsible to discourage the use of sexual contraceptives. To be clear, I do not have a problem with the fact that you guys are making the choice not to use them. Fair enough. You're in a monogamous, trusting relationship in which you plan to have children someday. But that is not everyone's situation. And young people who are maybe just starting to experiment sexually (which is probably a large portion of your demographic) need to not be misinformed, and they need to know to protect themselves. Honestly, no hate AT ALL. Just please be careful when you are talking about things that you are not medically trained in, and probably don't actually know a lot about.

Thank you for your reply! I wasn't making a negative judgement on their own personal choices, morals and values. I say multiple times in my original comment that I have no issue with that. People have the right to believe what they believe! And Jess and Gabriel 100% have the right to make their own choices about contraception. What I did have a problem with was them commenting on something that isn't a matter of opinion, it is a matter of facts. It is a FACT that contraceptives are effective. The video was obviously not about giving a lesson on contraception. However, they did make a misinformed comment about contraceptions in the video. I just wanted to point out that they shouldn't spread misinformation about something so important when it comes to having safe sex. In terms of young viewers getting this information elsewhere, you are absolutely right! But, unfortunately some areas have very subpar sex education. Further, especially for young people internet creators can have a massive influence on their beliefs and values. Additionally, if you do some research on the psychology of misinformation you will find that once someone has heard a piece of misinformation and accepted it as fact, it's actually quite hard for them to unlearn the misinformation. All I wanted to do was point out that contraception is actually very, very effective and should be used by people who are not in Jess and Gabriel's position (i.e., not in a married relationship in which they want to have kids with each other). And also just to remind people who have a large platform, to please be careful when talking about matters that are so important for sexual health.

Omar Sykes ... wow. The good thing about science is it’s truth whether you ‘believe’ it or not... I don’t even know how to respond to how on earth your mind works I seriously find it difficult to fathom your logic and there are many fallacies in your arguments. Firstly, statistics are statistics...they are numbers, they represent absolutes. If you are smart enough to recognise credible resources this is not an issue. Secondly, what the heck do you mean only the scientific community ‘believes’ in scientific facts?!?! It’s a FACT it is truth irrespective of your faith. Let me remind you that faith is believing in something despite not having any proof and that is not necessarily a bad thing but it’s the absolute opposite of fact. Insinuating that you can choose to believe in fact is like me saying I don’t ‘believe’ in flying despite the FACT that science has enabled the invention of the aeroplane and even though I’m presented with the evidence I still refute it because of my ‘beliefs’ Thirdly, even though this video was not intentionally aimed at talking about contraception it doesn’t mean that there shouldn’t still be a responsibility to perpetuate things that are correct instead of false. I’m sure people would have a go at me if I decided to make a video about my life and then talked about how taking drugs doesn’t do anything negatively to a young person as maybe i knew someone who was totally fine (this is an opinion) - particularly if my viewership were similar to this couple (young people) as young people are probably the most at risk group for experimenting with drugs just as they are with experimenting with sex and relationships. Sort yourself out dude.

It is so amazing that you are leaving having a baby to Gods timing. But you have such a young audience who don't all share the same view. So to say contraceptives rarely work is misinformation. A combination of contraceptives such as the condom, the pill or implants are almost 100% effective if taken properly and prescribed by a doctor to fit the individual persons needs.

Vina Mistry I agree. I think with a young audience it's extremely important not to confuse belief/ opinion with fact. Not everyone chooses to use contraception, which is completely valid choice, but it DOES scientifically work. that is not up for debate. It is an important prevention step for STIs, especially when not waiting till marriage or with multiple partners. It's an option that young peoole should be educated on (as well as educated on abstinence, ect.)

I love you guys, but please don't spread misinformation about contraceptives. Even if you guys choose not to use them because of your religion, some of your young impressionable viewers may not have the same beliefs. They may think that contraceptives are not effective (when in fact they are 99% effective if used correctly). Contraceptives are not only used for preventing pregnancy but also preventing sexually transmitted diseases. Please thumbs up so young viewers can see!!

So surprising to see so many people stressing on the 1% risk! No contraceptive is 100% risk of pregnancy how is that better? Of course STIs too, but even in a marriage with only one partner, contraceptive is the way to go to avoid unplanned pregnancy.

I think she means contraceptives. Also, such a beautiful comment! I’m not going to use them when I get married, but use nfp. Idk of you know what that is, but it’s natural family planning which is refraining from sex based on the woman’s period cycle when you are ovulating. Some ppl may think it’s the same thing as birth control, but it really isn’t cuz you shouldn’t use nfp for selfish reasons or cuz you think you’re set on just your day... 2 kids. It should be used for valid reasons, like financial, health, etc reasons. The reason why contraceptives were started is just wrong, deceitful, and hazardous to women’s health. Also, I just want to say I know there a lot of wonderful ppl who do use contraceptives and I’m not hating on them or think they are the worst ppl ever. I just don’t think it’s in line with God or agree with their use of contraceptives. Sex is made for bringing children into the world and uniting man and wife.🙂💕

Bianca Conroy you’re right. Being Gabriel a citizen can make it a process of just 3 or 4 months for her to have her residency. Past 5 years she can ask for her citizenship. I’m an immigrant so I kinda know about it.

To say that contraceptives "rarely work" is a bit of an overstatement. It's a lot more effective than nothing, but there is a lot of room for human error with things like the pill, condoms, and diaphragms. However I totally respect your decision to not use any. It is your relationship, and you two have to do what makes you feel both comfortable. And clearly you guys would welcome any baby in your life. My husband and I don't want kids ever, so we use condoms. I'm not comfortable with using hormonal birth control because of all sign effects that come with it, so condoms work just fine for us. Every marriage is different and has to fine what works for them. Love you two both BTW!!

i dated someone for a year and 2 months. he is baptist & i am jewish. at the time of starting the relationship, we didn’t think different religions would be an issue; we enjoyed the company and time spent together. but when it really came down to it, we eventually broke up. this break up was heart wrenching for me because i truly loved him. however, he didn’t respect my values or opinions on our religious future, yet i did for him. he only wanted me to change my religion for him and never once did i ask that of him. we eventually broke things off because we both believed we wouldn’t see eye to eye on the subject. dating someone of the different religion can be very challenging but if you truly love someone, you’ll work things out to make it work. 💖

As a Christian who was in relationship with an atheist, I can relate to this situation and struggle of not being on the same wavelength as your boyfriend. Unfortunately it may be hard for others to understand but many Christians believe that God comes to separate us from others. Just like yourself I always thought that if someone loves you, they'd do anything to be with you. That was before I experience the true meaning of love, through our almighty creator. We love because he loved us first. Now when I look back, I realized that no one should compromise their beliefs to be with me or vice versa, and this idea of separation made so much more sense to me. Yes it know how much it hurts but in the long run just know that God has bigger and better plans for you, and it is SO worth the wait :))) xx

Love this video but I have to agree, please don’t be spreading misinformation about contraceptives to young viewers! That honestly made me cringe. Contraceptives protect against STDs and drastically lessen the amount of unexpected pregnancies. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but please just be aware of who’s watching these videos. You’ve got a lot of young viewers on here and I’m sure they look up to you guys for guidance.

They didn't say not to use contraceptives. They said, and this was implied, that even with using contraceptives, it would be in God's plan whether or not it would work for them, when they are supposed to have kids. People need to be knowledgeable enough to know that they are a married couple talking about this so their opinions on having kids as a married couple is going to be different than teenagers still in high school. It's not their responsibility to teach about STDs and the uses for contraceptives, they were simply answering a question from a follower.

Love you guys but the comment about birth control was really careless especially since a lot of your viewers consist of teens and pre teens (impressionable ages). Birth control DOES work and it can be a great thing! You just have to do your research and find one that works for you! Also birth control isn’t only for preventing pregnancies, it can be used for a handful of different things. If you don’t believe in contraceptives then fine that’s your choice but don’t make it out like they’re not necessary. By saying that you were almost on the line of promoting unprotected sex which ISNT smart at all. Please be more careful and aware of what you say and put out on the internet.
