Hi Chris, have you tried to get the slow speed steering on your Civic working lower than the 12mph expected? cheers from UK

I’m thinking of the 2020 Highlander with the newer Safety sense 2.0. Thoughts about roughly how long it’ll take for a working version for download from your experience.? Great video!

2:55 almost hitting incoming traffic, if the driver reacts just 1 second slower.

nah i think it trying to get into center of road but driver was cautious.
@dave21325 жыл бұрын
That's not what happened. Believe me, I have one and this is standard behavior. When driving through a merge lane on the right, op will move to the middle. It's a little weird at first because the car will center itself in the double wide lane, but you get used to it. The car then goes to the left as the lane narrows, but you can see it straighten out the car before crossing the center line. Like cruise control, the driver has to pay attention to what the car is doing. Again, the car centering itself within a merge lane is standard behavior. They and everyone else wants this to stop happening, but it is predictable behavior.
@sheeiiittt20125 жыл бұрын
not at all, it would have hugged the line had he not done anything. It takes a sec to center after a merge, and .6.1 had hugging troubles with double lines. So yeah at worst it would have hugged the line, which is scary when you have oncoming traffic inches away from you.

Scared him enough to take over at 1:48 and he's an OP veteran...
@dave21325 жыл бұрын
@@Vlican It didn't scare him. That's what op does. That's the behavior in 0.6.2. Always be ready to grab the wheel. If I'm on a single lane road and there is a line of traffic coming, I'll usually either grab the wheel or have my hand around the wheel. op is wonderful on open roads. It works almost perfectly on single lane roads with traffic, but the driver always has to be ready to grab the wheel.

Im wondering how this VER will react in the rain. Also, it would be really neat to some how save geo-data to a cloud so self driving could be done where roads are less maintained (i.e. rural VT/NH)

Crowd sourced road mapping could be cool.

@@charlesgunzelman3323 My understanding is that it's being worked on by some of the guys that maintain forks of the code. I don't know how soon such features might make it into the official code.

Any idea as to when lane change will be available?

When was the last time the autopilot did something dangerous? And how often does that happen? Great idea for people who travel for longer, travels can be more relaxing, but I wonder how much can we trust it. How does it behave on bumpy highway?
@dave21325 жыл бұрын
op doesn't really do dangerous. You can trust it as well as you can trust cruise control. op has been used for over 12 million miles and 353k hours.
@sheeiiittt20125 жыл бұрын
On the highway it's pretty solid. The most dangerous thing it has done is identify a wrong lane on the highway and slowly veer in the that lane.

Is the safety lockout 3 times in a row or 3 times in any one drive? Hopefully it's in a row because the other might be a pain in a 3+ hour road trip.
@VirtuallyChris5 жыл бұрын
I think it's 3 times in a drive if you look away for a good 6 seconds or more while moving. I've never even done that once on any drive
@Danjr7045 жыл бұрын
@@VirtuallyChris Is the lockout configurable? My driver monitoring, especially at night almost always says im not looking. Just to confirm the driver monitoring shows you are indeed monitoring when the face on the lower left portion of the screen is lit up? and when you are not "paying attention" or it doesnt see you, it goes grey?

Hi I'm planning to buy an SUV and intrested in using open pilot in it. So my choices are Honda CRV or Toyota RAV4 Hybrid . Which one runs openpilot smooth and better steering control. What's your opinion on it. Thanks
@TerkyDoc5 жыл бұрын
Honda's have a maximum steering torque, so you end up having to take control on curves more often. That said, Honda seems to be the smoothest experience with openpilot generally. I drive a civic
@sheeiiittt20125 жыл бұрын
RAV4 for sure if it's a 2019 (tssp2). Better in all ways versus the Honda.
