I upgraded to the series x a couple of months ago after buying it on impulse at local walmart when I saw they had them in stock. I was going to wait until next year at some point to upgrade, but had to do it now lol. I love my one s, but moved it to the bedroom as my main media hub in there. There is definitely a difference between the two when it comes to the graphics, especially for games that have smart delivery, games update automatically. once i plugged in my external hard drive into my series x, every game that had smart delivery updated automatically to x/s versions. Forza 5, Grid Legends, The division 2(which i still run from the external drive) MLB the show, etc, never drop frames at all. Halo Infinite was 30 fps on Xbox one s, solid 60 on series x and it's night and day the gameplay. I fully support companies still making last gen games since the new ones are still hard to come by, but for those of waiting to get to the new ones, you'll be amazed at the difference

They all make exuses for their incompentense. Perfect example would be MW2 they managed to run the game at 1440p at 60 fps and 1080p at 120 fps. Metro Exodus ran the game with amazing breath taking visuals with ray tracing on at 900p which just upscaled to something way higher when playing on a 4k tv that supports upscaling. The Series S can run game at 60 fps its just dev's can't put the time and patience into the series s

You can easily build a $500 gaming pc that will match or exceed the performance of every console. Remember that no console is running native 4k either as they use lots of upscaling tricks and even then on AAA games the best you can usually get is 30 fps and thats with settings a pc would consider medium or even low. Even a toaster pc can run something like rdr2 or cyberpunk at console resolutions and settings at 30 or even 60 fps.
