I was the same at first I was like no but after seeing her function after function I’ve learned to love her and that she tries. Honestly with some help and guidance she will for sure get better. We all start somewhere. My favorite is her dip gets me every time.

Here’s my question with a lot of the Josephine discussions. If it’s OTA for her to come out and have fun and get her 10’s how do we justify chopping other who do better than her? I think that’s the issue a lot of ballroom people try to raise. If it’s going to be GOOD let her through- then let everyone through…..

Josephine is not the most polished performer but you gotta admire her tenacity for not giving up. To those that didn’t get their 10s, were they necessarily better than Josephine? Did they have enough visible confidence to make you think “hey! This person won’t get eaten up in the battles.” I think Josephine did better in her battle than her demo. I hope we can see her more competitive side in her demos in the future. She’s not the first person to skate through for being good enough btw. There’s tons of performers that passed bc they were just good enough. You know they wouldn’t win in the end.

@@mevox they were definitely better… There isn’t a most improved score or a you’ve got heart badge- you go out for 10’s- Perfect 10’s…… if it’s not perfect 10’s it should be a chop. If it’s not a chop for something that is a 6 or 7 it shouldn’t be a chop for something that’s a 1 or 2 or 9 or 10….. if we’re letting non 10’s through then let everything through. And this isn’t the first time- it happens weekly. I remember JRock was one of the first to really call it out during a commentator vs commentator battle. He’s a state to state commentator- did great and they chopped him- he took it…. then Justine came up and did some type of beat box ???? and they gave her 10’s.That is disrespectful to the people who not only have heart but have developed talent- ballroom may be about family but a ball is a competition. Are you saying that at any other ball she would not have been an immediate chop? Confidence is one thing- but for a precision category it wasn’t it. Maybe she needs to do the kiki scene for awhile to get from potential to performance. You don’t come to mainstream with potential- you perform when you can perform. I think this sets her up for failure and hurts ballroom- it sets up for more instances like the Dorian Corey where she got chopped and flipped a table- that’s not okay…. but because she gets through at OTA she feels like she should be passed through everywhere.

@@SNicolesPlace I do agree that she needs to hit the Kiki scene and train up before competing in the big balls. I don’t think this will start a trend of a bunch of mediocre performances getting passed through. Josephine may have passed here, but she’s still getting chopped in other categories. Even in some of their latest videos she appears in, she’s still getting chopped.
