Just love this program. It does things better then the expensive on the market programs-- like none of them have such a decent system like this on their programs and the SO thing is brilliant.

actually you can find a similar tool in synfig (also freeware). But way more complicated. This is heaven... I mean, it's super simple! Good tutorial as well, continue making them.

When I create a mesh using the plastic tool on a Vector drawing, as soon as I click animate after building the skeleton, my drawing becomes blurry around the edges. Is there a way to fix this?
@MrDanINSANE8 жыл бұрын
+BirdyTV I don't know, I didn't use Vectors because I love Raster better... so give it a try with a Raster level, if you get the same result it may be your graphic card, if not... it may be a bug in OpenToonz, I'm not sure.

Awesome as always. Are there any animation books that you would recommend for someone who is looking to learn the theory behind animation?
@MrDanINSANE8 жыл бұрын
+Hans Wackershauser Thank you! Actually, there are so many good books around it for example: "The Animator's Survival Kit" is very good. Believe it or not... I would highly recommend to practice by actually animating simple things and work on balance, timing and such... the more you'll practice the better you'll get! I can't promise because I'm extremely busy at the studio with client projects BUT... I may upload a video with some of my personal Tips & Tricks for beginners.

+Mr Dan INSANE Thank you. I'm looking into doing some exercises right now. Here's a question for you. What I draw the line creates a black ball at the end when I first click the screen. Any idea what could be doing that?
@goomba4788 жыл бұрын
I HIGHLY recommend "Disney Animation: The Illusion of Life". It's a THICK hardcover book that is just filled to the brim with information from some of Disney's Nine old Men and it has a treasure trove of techniques, tricks and information you won't find easily anywhere else. The Animator's Survival Kit is fantastic as well but many of the principles that Richard Williams refers to came from these Disney guys and they explain them in beautiful detail as well. If you can find a first edition the prints of the images are MUCH better as later re-issues used reproductions of the original drawings/prints. Best of luck to you!

I am struggling because once I click "animate skeleton", then I move the points, the mesh and skeleton moves, but not the image the mesh is built on. I can't find an answer as to why this is happening anywhere. Someone please help?
@MrDanINSANE7 жыл бұрын
There are 2 levels, one is the image, the second is the mesh, animate the mesh it will move the image. If you mean moving all the image (not the plastic tool joints) use the edit tool to move, rotate, scale all the level (not the mesh).

Thanks for watching the videos. Try to connect the effects nodes to the drawing nodes in the Stage Schematic (not the FX Schematic, make sure you switch). so when you animate the main "root" that holds all the effects it will move everything together. Think about it like parenting the hierarchy of the drawings and effects.

Question: How do you resize and move the mesh layer without moving the object?
@MrDanINSANE7 жыл бұрын
if you want to move specific part on the level (layer), select it and move it with the edit tool, or you can just manipulate the all layer with the edit tool if you want to animate it. watch other tutorial about the edit tool it may help.

@@Arkibus108 You're welcome, I just tried to remember what I did there. TBH - I'm not using OpenToonz, I have lots of crashes and unstable issues during the years and I got tired of softwares that slowing down my creativity. (not just OpenToonz but also others). We're developing a 2D Animation software and it's slowly becoming my main tool. You can start here: twitter.com/AnimatormeO + website link is there Just to be clear I have nothing against OpenToonz it's great for a free tool but after so many years working in the industry with so many different animation software, I decided to design a modernized 2D Animation software Made for Animators, by Animators ❤
@Arkibus1082 жыл бұрын
@@MrDanINSANE Ok very interesting, I'm using Tahoma 2d which is an offshoot of OpenToonz, it seems reasonably stable so far but I've only made a few scenes with it. I will definitely check out AnimatormeO when it comes out. Though I'm not too good at frame by frame animation, I tend to rely on bones and the plastic tool.
@MrDanINSANE2 жыл бұрын
@@Arkibus108 I've tried Tahoma as soon as it was out, it's sure cleaner in the UI but it's based on the same core system so there are so many issues related to crashes. For short tests, examples and tutorials it's not a problem, but when you do a short cartoon... that's where I gave up... it's been years these crashes never solved, and I know since I used TOONZ (the original commercial source which OpenToonz and Tahoma built on) which is very stable, so I'm afraid these problems won't be solved any time soon.

Using OpenToonz 1.0.3 (latest version for this date) you can click on the little KEY icon on the X-Sheet press: Ctrl+C (copy) then go to the other frame you want to past and press: Ctrl+V (past). If that's not working for you, I'm afraid I can't help because it works for me. Good Luck :)

@MrDanINSANE8 жыл бұрын

You can click on the yellow "sun" icon to hide the skeleton if you don't want to see it. if you want to know more check out my other video tutorials about auto keyframes. Also, the current version is 1.1.0 so there might be changes I'm not sure since I didn't play with the skeleton much.
