OpenWRT - Xiaomi Mi Router 4 OpenWRT Installation

I have just followed this video and successfully got the SSH/Telnet access and installed OpenWRT on Xiaomi 4A Gigabit version. Many thanks for the tutorial. Somehow Hoddys Guides and all other's tutorials didn't work for me, just couldn't get the telnet access to the router.

I've own Mi4A Gigabit Ed. and install Openwrt but in the other method, It is working fine, playing around software to install, do you have any ideas which software is the best to install.

Hey thx for the video, but i have a question can I follow this tutorial if I have ubuntu on a flashdrive? is that works if I'm useing a just ubuntu on a flashdrive plugged to my laptop ?? (my laptop runs windows10) Or can I instal this useing windows?? somehow??

Yes, it should work with Ubuntu on the USB drive, just to make sure you have enough space to install docker. You can also do this in Windows, but it is more complicated to install Docker on Windows.

To control/block website, you can try Pi-Hole or Adguard Home, all you need to do is add the domain/website to backlist and it will do. For quota control, I have no idea, sorry.

Hi, are you talking about the Redmi ax6000 with quad-core CPU and gigabit ethernet ports. I know that this device is running openwrt now, but it is not the one I will buy due to the WAN port is only Gigabit. I aim at the xiaomi ax9000 or the redmi ax5400

i have the Xiaomi Mi Router 4a gigabit with OPENWRT using WIREGUARD on it since the original mi firmware doesnt support wireguard but only l2tp and pptp which is weird. i got openwrt on my mi router with a simple exe files, i didnt need to do openwrt invasion which is much long and annoying, so the where i did it is super easy and if you need a link for it i can send one.

This script should be done by 4pda community and it can run on Windows. Since I can't verify the safety of the script/program, I don't recommend this to others. However, thanks for sharing the information.

Yes, main difference is the Flash storage (128MB for Mi Router 4 vs 16MB for Mi Router 4A).

What is the router you got? Is it Xiaomi Router 4 or Xiaomi Router 4A?

The Mi 4A Gigabit edition only has 16MB of FLASH, so 10MB of space after the installation is correct. The router in video is Mi Router 4, which has 128MB of FLASH.

Can u help? Wifi ac is not working... Keeps saying wifi not associated and it just won't start it at all What I did wrong during flashing is I selected kernel1/rootfs from v21.02.0 , then later flashed sysupgrade v21.02.1 Is that why it's not working idk... is wifi ac working for you? How can I fix this from here? restore back to stock somehow then try flashing correct version of kernel1/rootfs? Idk how to restore tho xd

Got this figured out - country code needs to be set otherwise anything but channel 36 results in wifi disabling itself I did go back to stock tho and do a reflash - if u can do a guide how to go back to stock that would be much appreciated ! It took me 5 hours last night didn't sleep at all and it's so simple if u know how - first use bootpd to give router ip address and tell it what file to look for ? ( in my case I used bf=test.bin ), then use tftp server to store firmware on so router can pull it - just add test.bin to /srv/tftp Tftp server is not even necessary if u know how to setup bootpd to serve the file ... Did you copy the whole SSH command from OpenWRTInvasion? If you manual establish the SSH connection, it will not work.
