LIGHT SPOILERS FOR CHAPTER 1 I apologize for the visual color shift. I've been adjusting the settings after being in the really bright room for Close in the distance and it's still not perfect. Which is why it randomly shifts to orange-y at one point. I hope you enjoy this music as much as I did while filming.

What this song means to me is growth and self-actualization. I’m around the same age as the main characters(physically). I do recall the directors of the game in Nintendo’s interviews recommending players who are around the same age as the characters to try the game out as well. What I hear in this song is a journey to break free and find what my true calling is. The real reason why I am here. What can I do in the real world. I love the Xenoblade games. It’s music and stories are one of the best things this game has to offer. I’m glad you took a liking to it. Edit: the Interview was in part 3 of Nintendo’s Ask The Developer Interview for Xenoblade 3.

When I first booted up the game and let this play, I admit I originally thought it was weaker than the equivalent title theme for Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2. But every time I listen to it again, this piece leaves me rethinking that more and more. Especially having progressed the story further, I really can see the themes of the story in this opening theme, and it hits harder. You make a lot of good points on how this is written into the music here so well! I do still like Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2's opening themes better, especially because of how well XC2 uses motifs from its opening theme throughout the rest of the soundtrack, but I'm looking forward to seeing if and how my opinion on this XC3 opening theme changes as I keep playing.

XC3 music in general feels weaker until you get far enough into the game to get a feel for the narrative themes they're playing with. It's kinda similar to BOTW in that way; the music is a bit of a departure from tradition for the series, but it's done in a way that still echoes the old music and also fits its intended world perfectly.

It seems to me that this game came out in the perfect time for you. It is allowing you to process emotions in a way that is very helpful to you which I think is just amazing. It came out in the right time for me as well, having to process through similar feelings so to speak. At first all I could think was just how beautiful the story was and how amazed I was at how quickly I related to it, but as I dived in more I understood why. It showcase so well the human condition dealing with grief, fear, doubt, and even hope. I've not been so moved by a video game before as I am being moved now, and the music just makes it even more moving.

Before booting up Xenoblade Chronicles 3 for the first time, I thought that "A Life Sent On" would be the game's main theme. Thus, I was surprised to hear this the first time on boot. I listened to this track on the main menu until it started to loop and it grew on me more with each time I would boot the game, much like the title theme of the original Xenoblade Chronicles.

There really is something different yet very special with XC3. In the beginning, I often found myself trying to criticize what I could so I wouldn't be sucked into gushing about everything or ignoring certain things that I felt were off. I've done that before and many people have as well but I still enjoyed myself as much as possible. Despite me trying to overanalyze everything as often as possible, I found that the longer I played the more I began to fully absorb this game and the message it conveys and it does so very beautifully. As embarrassing as it is, I teared up really badly on a simple Hero quest in Chapter 5. Wasn't hard to do or long but it had to do with Vandham and the crew wanting to know more about him. I have no real connection to those in the military be they family or friends so I haven't lost anyone in that way so it's hard to relate to that. And yet, I was almost blubbering like a baby when the final scene of that quest was shown as people were remembering the loved ones who never came back from fighting at a memorial area with Mio and Noah sending them off. I think it was just by that point in the game that you really can't deny the tragedy of their world and the constant loss from going through a never ending war. All in all, this game never feels heavy handed with its themes and moreso to that, I feel like there's a certain way they handle these ideas that let the players truly absorb everything one step at a time. I guess for me, that quest broke me because everything I had absorbed had finally reached a peak. This game truly is something else

@@timkerkemeiker9791 Chapter 5, 45 hours in. I do a lot of side questing but every so often I stop to blaze through the story because I want to see what's gonna happen. So long as you do side content, your playthrough will be lengthy. I can also tell you right now that the chapters get longer with each one as I've been on 5 for a few hours and it's still not over despite going through a major story beat. Of course, I understand the concern about length and content. Just like Lanz, we always want something a bit meatier, as the constant saying goes

I haven't finished the game yet (just finished chapter 4), but even in the early chapters, there's a certain quality to the music, that previous entries didn't have. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it makes me want to cry. I don't know if the entire premise of the game is part of that feeling, but many even mundane scenes just get me so emotional.

@@GamingFreakShow1991 YES Me and my chat were talking about this before Subdued and immersive is a good way to put it. They don't grab your attention in the way previous games did - which could be good or bad depending on what you:re after. I really liked the adventurous spirit of the past ones, they stood out and grabbed you and filled you with energy to want to explore. Xeno 3 feels more ... nuanced? Sort of nostalgic. Something that is less about "GET OUT THERE AND SEE IT" and more "This was already here, long before you" It fits with Xeno 3 overall, the game has a lot more quiet introspective moments to its story and to its overall vibe.

Probably your best video yet. Going through something really personally difficult and finding something, whether a piece of music or other media that helps you move forward is a powerful thing. It's an honor that that we get to experience that sort of journey with you. I think Xenoblade 3 is a very effective story because it's absurd premise is just an exaggerated version of our own world. The game shows you a brutal world where people live and die within 10 years and most don't even make it that far. If you really think about it, how much different is a decade compared to ~80 years. How much different is it that we go to school to train for jobs and then work until old age where we die shortly after. Especially in places where socioeconomic conditions are poor, no one really has the time to sit back and think about what they want out of life, what they want to leave behind. The trials and tribulations of day to day life are so intensive and require so much of our mental energy. Most people in human history have never had the power to get what they wanted out of life, just a pawn out of billions all for the benefit of a few powerful people. For some, playing this video game is the first time they have ever been challenged to think about these concepts. To me it seems like more and more people are grappling with these philosophical questions and wanting to get more out of our short time on Earth, and I'm happy we have stories like Xenoblade 3 to guide us to asking these tough questions to ourselves. I hope you react to more music from this game to give you an excuse to talk more about the themes and how it relates to the score. Personally the Chain Attack theme has been stuck in my head for days it's so incredible, but any track will do as there are so many incredible pieces. Maybe create a longer video essay type thing going over your general thoughts on the game when you complete it. Whatever the case, thank you for this video and I'm looking forward to seeing what you do next!

I'm over 30 hours into the game and only in chapter 3. This world is massive and beautifully done. I've seen familiar places and listened to familiar cues on some pieces. For the story, it's so intriguing and so much questions going on the more I play. I've found a place where a familiar piece plays and I've been there for hours so I could enjoy it while exploring. The composition, the instrumentation feels different from previous Xenos, but much more refined, to a point of savoring.

I love how the left hand at times seems to be searching, constantly modulating until finally finding the center together with the melody as the speed picks up and our heroes resolve to move forward into the unknown. I initially wasn't as hype about the XC3 music, which while I acknowledged as good, didnt have the... "meaning" to me yet. Now as I enter the endgame of my own playthrough I can't help but tear up at hearing this motif as well as anytime the flutes start getting up to no good. Much like my playthrough of Endwalker I am once again tasked with existential questions about who I am and why am I here in this moment. I don't know if I've found my answer but media like XC3 affirms that my search isn't over.

I avoided most music releases before the game came out for this reason exactly. When I first got to Ribbi Flats, I had to stop playing and just stand there and soak in the day and nighttime themes. It was at least 30 minutes before I moved on, easily some of the best music in gaming for me personally. Point being! It can really hit so much harder hearing the music in game, in its proper context. Hearing how they encompass the area and time of day, the mood of the story at the time and the tension/relief of that, and also the relationships some of the pieces have to others (I'm looking at you Colony 4 and Rest Spot BGM).

I'm an interpreter. I don't know the technical aspects of the composition. I know how a piece makes me feel and how I would go about presenting a piece if I were to have to perform it on stage but as far as chords and structure and why things are written as they are musically, that's not my jam: I would suggest checking out davi vasc, alex moukala, jesse's auditorium, or Atlas for those types of videos. This is specifically about musical interpretation and emotional reading rather than analysis. :)

Yasunori Mitsuda is responsible for three of the greatest, most timeless vg scores of all time, I kept up with his music well into the 00s but I felt like he was never quite the same after Xenosaga. I realize from what I've read that he nearly killed himself to deliver the Chrono Cross ost on time, for that I'll be forever grateful, and clearly he couldn't keep pushing himself that hard. At about 2:47, I haven't heard a piece from him that strikes this kind of emotional chord with me since Dream Of A Shore Bordering Another World, and 03:08 gives me chills. I'm so happy I found this.

This song isn’t the main theme of the game, the main theme is “A life sent on” and os another beautiful song. I recommend you to listen “The weight of life”, is an amazing song and is the equivalent of “Engage the enemy” and “Counterattack” of this game, used in epic moments in the game

@@MarcoMeatball I love how they grab the instrument textures and musical themes of the game and make them fit perfectly with its already emotionally intense main theme.

I definitively think XC1 and 2 opening titles are more impactful but this one deserves its own thing too. Overall, music in XC3 is superb but it lacks its own identity. I mean putting aside the main theme and one or two cut scene tracks, I find some of them somehow generic. Like the desert place, yeah the music sounds like...an arabish music ...it's good don't get me wrong but compare to Mor Ardain where every track is a master piece that exceed your expectations, XC3 desert music is not surprising... But it is surely because they were high on bars in the previous episodes it was more of a challenge for them to repeat that kind of feat. Anyway,I'm enjoying my videogame journey so far.

I felt XB3 had weaker music to XB2 in a sense. But as i played and finished the game it became somewhat obvious to me why i thought that. The shift in tone of these games is massive. XB3's story is incredibly cruel and depressing compared to the others.

The title screen music for xc3 is really not very good in my opinion. XC1 had an amazing title screen piece and xc2 was still really good. I’m just not feeling for xc3’s main theme at all compared to the others. Glad there r still good pieces in the game though!

I did like some of the music in 3, but I think the ost overall is weaker than 1 and 2.

@Jonah Laining I know the vibe they were going for and it was still a weaker soundtrack than 1 or 2. I put 130 hours into Xenoblade 3 and the game is overall not as good as 1 or 2. The biggest issue with the game is that the open world is so large and the main story is so short that it doesn't lend itself to as many big, bombastic set piece scenes that would allow for a more dynamic soundtrack. Because of that, there are very few memorable pieces. Most of the music is exploration music which is there to be there and not to tell the story. The only music in 3 that I found super memorable were the desert theme, the vocal piece at the end of chapter 5, the music at the end of chapter 5, and the final boss music. That's honeslty it. I had 3-4 times that many with xenoblade 1 and 2. I love xenoblade and it's just overall, not as good of a game.

Man, this game is such a tragedy. This music is so beautiful, but it had to be written to accompany a completely unoriginal and frankly unfinished story. Now when I hear it all I can think about is that it doesn't mean anything. It's just a pretty song someone wrote for a really mediocre game. This song deserved better.

From mixed bath scenes to down right promoting polygamy. How repulsive can this game get. At least it not as bad as the fan service in XC2. What a mess, this series needs to end especially with all the occult symbols... Such a shameless series of revolting games...

Right now it’s my game of the year…as good as elden ring was…none of fromsofts games make you feel any particular way emotionally due to their storytelling choices, that plus the actual gameplay with xenoblade 3 is just an incredible experience.
