Was honestly surprised to see this one pop out. There is a quite big gap between what is considered tradition and modern as you have pointed out several times before, which is a shame because there is no real reason to keep both of them separated as if they were entirely different entities. It's songs like this or more notably God Shattering Star that prove great quality opera songs can be made to this day without just copying the past, but not ignoring it either. It does take talented composers and the will to explore beyond the limits of tradition while respecting it's legacy.

opera metal is not new. electronic sounds blur the boundaries a bit more but anime/game music has also been doing it since a long time ago

This track has been living in my head rent-free since the day it got released. Personally I'm a big fan of well-written lyrics, and this song just ties so well into the lore and the relationship between the characters (those being Belial, whose point of view the lyrics are written in, and Lucilius). It's practically a declaration of undying love and loyalty from the embodiment of debauchery to his creator, who seeks to bring about the destruction of the skies to defy very creation itself. Naturally a part of the meaning is lost unless you already know the storyline involving the characters, but I can really speak with the bias of a person who is obsessed with the game... And this song is EVERYTHING. I can't describe how strong of a mental chokehold it has on me. I love the direction the world of game music is heading with the ever increasing amount of symphonic orchestra. My friend actually mentioned once that the trend could've partly been kickstarted by bands like Nightwish. I don't know how well that theory holds water, but still warms my little Finnish heart just a bit, lol.

Always neat to see people react to granblue tracks. It has a ton of great music that typically flies under the radar due to the original game being Japan only

Thanks for the reaction! Granblue Fantasy have tons of great tracks to look at. This song is coming out of nowhere because the franchise have never taken opera vocalist before, but turns out loved by the community. While you at it, please react to Wing of Terror, which considered as an iconic Granblue Fantasy music. Cheers!

Awesome seeing that you checked out Morning Light Hymnus! Granblue Fantasy's music is wonderful, I'm sure people have recommended Zero and I'd recommend it as well! It was a treat to hear for the first time in the game. Tsutomu Narita has been a sort of protégé to Nobuo Uematsu and I like that he keeps that tradition of rocking out like Soken does for FFXIV! In a similar vein, I'd suggest Serpent Eating the Ground from Bravely Default! It's a blast finding symphonic metal pieces in gaming, your thoughts on the natural progression of music is great! Music keeps evolving and finding new avenues to surprise us :>

You should react to Lullabye from Arknights, or amiyaevolution. Two incredible pieces along with doubledragons. It really has a very beautiful OST and one of the best i've heard in video games of its type. PS: I love your videos and analysis, i have discovered many beautiful music thanks to you!!

This song was always a stand out to me when I play GBVS, Avatar Belial (the character who has this theme) is an eight winged fallen angel deity who wants to revive Lucilius, and he’s so much fun to play. The song fits perfectly with how dangerous Avatar Belial has become. Kudos to the reaction, Granblue in general has great music. Also I agree that oprea singers can sing things that aren’t in the canon.

A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. My personal suggestion would be Lord of a Dead Empire. Since you did God Shattering Star, this is the spiritual ancestor of that theme, since it came from a prior Fire Emblem game. Love the content, keep up the great work.

Granblue Fantasy musics are GOATED. They have lots of genres, from rock, opera, pop, metal, even a damn bollywood song. Even some of their character has skills set that comes from name of rock & metal songs. Example Yukata Ilsa has skills name come from Archenemy's songs.

The fact that you called it an 'Evolution' is unintentionally very on point, as 'Evolution' is a huge plot point of the story beats this track covers, humanity's evolution.
