I like that the song (as usual in AK) seems to reflect that character story. **SPOILERS** Specter is a Abyssal Hunter, which are a sort of genetically modified soldier based on Aegir (sea creature) body and Seaborn (Hivemind evolve at all costs enemy). They were created to face the Seaborn threat that has been wreaking havoc under the ocean. However, as they are part Seaborn, they listen to their call, and can, in time, end up becoming one of them. The lore seems to imply that it happens when the AH loses the sense of individuality or when their mental state fall. So they are always listening the call and consciously choosing not to succumb, to stay human. Specter is one of the few survivors of a fight with a crucial battle, and drifted ashore, where she was found by followers of the Church of the Deep, a cult-like organization that worships the Seaborn. They injected originium directly in Specter's spinal cord. Her seaborn blood seems to fight off the infection from spreading, but also caused her amnesia. Her alter form "the Unchained" is her regaining her memory. So she was asleep, and awakened when regained her memory, but has to be aware to not "awaken" as a seaborn. Pretty clever.

AAAAA FINALLY MY FAVORITE SONG!!! And I'm so fascinated you did catch Gubman's intention with the dissonance to illustrate the panic, stress, and restlessness of her character! One of the most interesting part about this song was that Adam Gubman in one of his interview that I saw in Bilibili, said that it was intended to be very chaotic or had that dissonance at first and it gets calmer and eventually clear in the end to portray her mental condition as her story arc progress. And yes, I think it is indeed beautiful and rich!

It's so good to hear vocals in a game, because it's not just the instrumental majesty that I must consume but the emotional undertones of the singer's voices. It is a trend that I think is increasing this year. Look at Honkai Star Rail, most of their music and themes have vocals now. Arknights is also increasing the amount of music that has vocals.

Arknights EP (character theme) songs always have vocals. The in game OSTs on the other hand varies. Sometimes there's a singer involved, sometimes it's just intstrumental, sometimes there's a vocal for only on a certain part like in the countdown in Lonetrail boss battle theme.

This music represents 100% what spectre was through this event, to put it simply: the character, spectre in the past she lost her memories and a different personality took over her, in this event in the final, the true herself comes back and awaken, taking control over her other personality, coming back to once was the real spectre

the song sweeps you off your feet, you can say it washes over you like a crashing tide. it's funny you say the song is restless and melody all over the place, Spector has 2 personalities, the original is aggressive and sassy while the "nun" personality is demure or what the normal personality describes her as "so pure" This fits both the theme n gameplay, the theatric part is the original Spector taking the lead role, the patter singing plus the tone shift is the original personality has an intense emotional outburst ie life & death situation, which causes her personality to swap to the nun which represents quiet and passive part of the music.
