I like how that melody at 21:37 - 22:12 is incorporated in most of XVI's battle themes. It reminds me of how they did the same thing with the main themes of the XIV expansions.

I've heard some other recognizable melodies through this and the only FF I ever played is 14. Japanese video game composers are on another level... Nier, Souls games, FF... such recognizable sounds and you still never get bored of hearing them.

I love that leitmotif and how they incorporated it in a variety of ways just during this demonstration. Almost like one half of a waltz. It signifies a level of desperation and arrogance, but it still maintains a level of regality and elegance. I have a good feeling about this FF just because every sign so far points at them learning from their past mistakes and going back to the drawing board. The music is on point though so far. That much is clear 💯

Yeah that's the leiftmotif of the OST clearly, back in the day Uematsu also did the same thing in FFIX, where you had a melody that often came back.

The whole video throughout was a real rollercoaster and ended on an epic note that made me teary-eyed. Final Fantasy has really come a long way and created a signature with their sound while also keeping each installment unique to their identity.

Final fantasy has always had very good music, but it seems that ever since 7 (the original, not the remake), the music quality just kept getting better and more epic. Honestly, you can never go wrong with final fantasy when it comes to the music... but this game, music aside, looks absolutely stunning! I can't wait to get my hands on it.

27:31 This musical shift with the staccato and what sounds like a major shift is just hype fuel for me. I turned up my sound system when I watched the 4K trailer (this is right before 24 minutes in the original video) and rewatched the whole Ifrit Titan Lost scene with the chorus with it blaring. Just the music in this State of Play pushed me to pre-order. I’ve played every FF game since 7 aside from 11 so I figured I would eventually get 16, but this sold me. The music of Final Fantasy is really what sets it apart from other game franchises and this State of Play reminded me how much I love it.

As for why Ifrit was fighting phoenix at the beginning is first It's not Clive, it seems like there's 2 ifrits and the "dark" Ifrit is the one who killed Joshua, Phoenix's dominant and Clive's brother. It seems like Clive is searching for the dark Ifrit so he can get revenge and learn why Joshua was killed. However this story seems alot deeper as we see Phoenix fight Bahamut which doesn't make sense if Joshua is dead, either Joshua comes back cause you know...Phoenix or Clive fully inherits Phoenix

As someone who has already played the game, hide hideaway is one of the most recognizable and heart moving theme whenever you hear it, especially if you switch the hideaway music to make the theme even rarer

Loved your reactions in this video. The music during the Benedikta and Garuda boss fight is amazing. The gameplay with the music perfectly match the bosses. Search "Battle with Benedikta", "Eikon Battle with Garuda", "Battle with Suparna and Chirada". There are some interesting pieces of battle and music to whet the hype even more. If you have time check it out, it's unbelievable. Would love to see your reactions. It has a lot of "spoilers" though. :/

Hey Marco, I've been a way for a few days just to come back to a BANGER of a video. Besides the amazing times I have watching your content and hearing your takes on these pieces, I would like to recommend one myself. Freesia by Daisuke Ishiwatari, the piece is from Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator-. It is a track at the end of episode mode which is a side mode where you can take a deeper look into the characters stories. The song is just so emotional and powerful that it just makes you feel some type of way. In my eyes, the song is telling you that no matter how nice you are to them, they will always have resentment towards themselves but they can't come to terms with it. Can't wait for FFXVI and more reactions from you.

This game looks incredible! And that soundtrack, oh man it's gonna be beautiful. Can't wait to hear the full soundtrack of FF XVI. I like the big orchestral tracks with choir, and those calm ambient musics by a piano as well. My jaw dropped during the combat scenes. I immidiately said it's like Devil May Cry. And I've just learned that one of the combat designers is from the DMC franchise, so that's why. And it's funny cause I've just beat DMC 5 on my PS4 (what a great game it is!) and now watching your music-focused videos of DMC 5. They're really fun.

The music that starts from 5:55 reminds me of The Songs of Salt and Suffering from FFXIV Stormblood (The Lochs theme) and it's honestly one of my favorites. Soken put his all in the songs in this game. Final Fantasy XIV 6.4 and beyond, it seems like he would be one-upping himself further, as to what he always does. He's competing with himself, which is a great thing. Final Fantasy XIV 7.0 music is gonna be WILD.

I honestly think he did give it his all. Especially when Yoshida have shared that Soken confessed to him that he was actually struggling to produce music for FFXVI. Unlike FFXIV where he has more creative freedom, FFXVI is a single player title and he knows he needs to stick within the theme of the game.

I’m all for XVI, it’s already got a spot in my heart honestly lol. I will def enjoy seeing how they go about the Eikon v Eikon battles; from the presentation to the delivery. I really want to know the ideas and influences Soken picked up to make sure these Eikon fights *FEEL* massive and weighty but ensuring there’s a dramatic motive in these fight sequences. I honestly cannot wait!

To me, the fact that the games are not connected is just common sense. But I grew up in that era and I've played those games. I don't think a lot of kids these days do, and have. So I think it is wise for them to clarify that you do not have to play previous games to play this one. Some people do not do more than surface level research on games.
