I own one of these monitoring bunkers here in Northern Ireland. I have been licensed since 2009 but never operated from the bunker. That is going to change this year. 73’s GB1ROC.

Carl, very interesting new activity for amateur radio operators, it seems very similar to POTA here in the states, and I very much like working in activities like that in amateur radio, as long we have fun that is the most important part, and usually you can pick up some great history of the area, and other facts that make it all very enjoyable, and Carl, thank you for sharing.

I've fond memories of messing about in the local ROC bunker as a kid, but it had a load of asbestos in it so we stopped going in it after we found that out!

Our local radio club were well involved with bunkers on the air. I was literally down one a few weeks ago, very grim places especially knowing you had to be down for weeks at a time, basically a box room and a toilet!..Another good video Carl..thanks

Hi Carl. I hope all is well with you and your family. After watching your videos with the IC-705, other videos, and tinkering with one at work, I am going to add one to my collection of radios. I love your videos...always good stuff. Have a great weekend. 73 from Mount Hood, Oregon.

No bunkers here in Newfoundland, but I do have a Clansman. I always have a hassle recharging the batteries at 24 volts. I use two 12v batteries. I was wondering what other operators do for recharging. VO1OK
@TalmidAndy11 ай бұрын
I bought an adjustable 24 volt power supply from Amazon. Originally I used it for paired 12 volt batteries and charging clansman batteries, however, I was able to get hold of a clansman charge controller and have been using it with that ever since.

I love this idea. Are the BOTA folks supposed to use ex military gear for the activity, or is that just a fun extra detail on your part?
