1) Operating system generation - There are 2 types of operating system design, for one machine and for multiple machines - In order to adapt to different kinds of machines, the OS use the SYSGEN process to determine the requirements: + Which CPU the machine using ? + Which devices ? + Memory of the machine ? 2) System boot - System bootstrap is the first program to be executed when the computer starts - It will locate the OS kernel and load it into the memory to be executed - This program is located in the ROM because ROM needs no initialization and safe to computer virus (read-only) - The OS is located on the disk

Such an amazing teacher with beautiful soft voice. To my level of understanding from this lecture, operating systems can be designed in two possible ways, one for a specific machine or hardware while the other approach designs in compatible way so that it can run on versatile environments. Booting is the process of starting computer and making it in running mode. Bootstrap loader is the program that initialize booting. It resides in ROM. It locates OS, loads into memory and executes. OS resides in disk.

Actually what you referred to bootloader/bootstrap loader , resides in HDD, sector- 0. The firmware, which is stored in ROM is called BIOS which is coded in machine language . The BIOS is told to by-default look into the sector-0 for MBR(Master Boot Record) after POST. In MBR , there is a part of code which is known as boot-loader. This boot loader now searches for OS kernel in HDD & later takes it to RAM. Now, the control is handed to OS.

@@demonslayer4607 im not genius Im idiot if truly say Nobody can learn such a big stuff in short span of time I did this because completing the playlist without understanding it properly will: 1. Make my mind a bit relaxed as I watched full playlist 2. Watched 100 videos, remembering atmost 50 will be enough to get context for the exam
