Really found this story so interesting. Also, well written and presented. The bravery of those Czech soldiers was incredible. Here in the US we have never been occupied by a foreign power so I can't imagine the terror and hardship that must have been endured by the Czech people during WWII. The later occupation under the soviets must have been just as bad. Yet you Czechs refused to give up. I admire the courage and resilience of your People.

Soviet occupation obviously was not as bad as nazi occupation, but communists had longer time for their crimes, but still, thousands of people were executed during WWII by nazi occupants, only like tens or low hunderds were executed during 40 years of communism in Czechoslovakia. Communists prefered sending people to prison than execute everyone. Ofcourse it was different in USSR, their regime was much more brutal than here.

Very well done and informative! In 2018 I had the privilege of visiting St Cyril and Methodius Church and the underlying crypt. The memorial poignantly displays the heroic sacrifices of these young men and the Czech Resistance. These paratroopers gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country and for freedom. May they rest in honored glory forever.

I have been to ST cyrils methodius and found it very sad and moving. When I read further into their part in the attack,I discovered that they were sent to Cholmondesly castle in my home county of Cheshire in the UK.They were housed in a village called Ightfield and sometimes went into Whitchurch,a small town on the border with cheshire (shropshire)The pair were popular with the local girls. The castle was the training centre for SOE agents.I have visited the village and for some unknown reason Kubis and Gabcik are not on the war memorial which every english town/village has.I said to my wife ,they should be,they were very brave men.FREEDOM should be fought for!!

It is hard to imagine the barbarous reprisals after Reinhard Heydrich was assassinated. So many thousands of innocent people murdered, for example. Worse, the villages of Lidice and Lezaky were destroyed after the people in them were murdered as an act of blind revenge for Heydrich death at the hands of his assassins. So tragic and senseless, not to mention savage. Thank you for this educational video. Let us never forget the lessons from history.

I think it was Churchill or the British Admiralty who planned the assassination of Heydrich. They knew it could have terrible repercussions for the people of Prague but I read somewhere that it was a necessity for the war effort because there was the possibility that Heydrich might find out about Admiral Canaris' support for the Allies because he disliked what Hitler and his Nazis were doing in general. I think the admiral was a professional German naval officer, like Rommel, and was just trying to right what was wrong for the future of the German people. But I could also have misinterpreted what I read.

Excellent video. I have never been to Prague, but if I ever visit I will definitely take your tour. The men who killed Heydrich, and their comrades who fought and died with them in the church --- and all those brave civilians who supported Operation Anthropoid---- are among the greatest heroes and patriots who have ever lived. Some day I would like to go to the Church and say "Thank you". The man who betrayed them is the worst coward and traitor who has ever lived.

Many thanks for a very informative story-telling and a detailed video-tour of assassination of Heydrich by the brave Czechoslovakian parachutists. I read Alan Burgess’s book ‘Sven Men at Daybreak’ and also watched a film based on the book’s narrative ‘Operation Daybreak’ and I enjoyed both very much. It was very interesting to see all the sites and how they look today, the locations and buildings in which those events from spring 1942 had actually taken place and also the memorials that pay tributes to those hero resistance fighters and patriots that mark those spots now. Diky velice.

This is a great video. I especially liked the way you explained the assassination site and where the car and the paratroopers were standing. I have looked at this site on Google maps and never could make out this information since it has changed so much. You laid it out perfectly and I could see the shape of the old road which is now the sidewalk and where the car travelled around the bend of the sidewalk. It all makes sense now...
