Thanks for the walk-through, Sharon. I think it is helpful to get a sneak peak of the set up for those who may be considering volunteering, but have not yet done it. 👍

Thanks, Trish! Like I told Diana I wish it wasn't so dizzy. I'll remember that next time. I was in a hurry. Hope this video was helpful! Thanks again! 🎄

Hi Sharon and Scott, Thanks for a tour of your PC. And for letting us know about the scissors. Yes. It is always best to check with your Table Leader if an item can be sent. At my PC, we sometimes found suitable items removed, and these would later be added to filler baskets. Our filler baskets included one each of girls' and boys' clothing, general items, and priority items. Typically, our priority items were those we had a lot of. Whereas general items included pencil packs, hygiene items, and toys. I loved finding my own filler items in the baskets and adding these to a shoebox. TFS!

Thanks Fiona! Yup, I put it in the filler boxes once I spotted the scissors. And let the table leader know they are fine to send. Unfortunately my filler didn't make it to the floor during my shift. Thanks for watching! 🎄

What a great tour! Thanks for sharing! The building is definitely hopping with enthusiasm! It’s great to give an idea of what the set up looks like for people who might be considering coming to the processing center! And for those who can’t come, they love to see it! So nice seeing Scott on camera as well! Awesome job! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Thanks for the tour - that is the processing center my boxes and fillers went to. Your boxes have been an inspiration to me as I start on my first year doing year-round shopping and packing.

These are some of my favorite videos. It's fun seeing the process throughout the year from beginning to end. This is my first year to volunteer. The PC is closer to me this year. I'm looking forward to it. 😄

Thank you for the tour! I have been to the process center in Charlotte, NC twice and always wondered what some of the other centers look like. Just in awe, I put blunt scissors in my boxes.😁

Hi Yvonne, I am in Australia, and our processing tables and procedures are the same. Our staff areas are also similar with fridges and bag storage (lockers). The only big difference is the merchandise - shirts are available on request.

Thanks for watching! Same, I'm curious what other processing centers look alike. From videos, I think Baltimore is one of the smaller centers. I would like to volunteer one day in other centers. I also put blunt scissors!

@eastcoaststories ... And the other big difference in Australia is my PC is smaller than Baltimore. Still, we can fit a shipping container in. Watching these come on/off the trucks is amazing.

I love this tour! I feel so much more comfortable and like I would know what to do and where to go when I'm able to volunteer one year! I love that there is a fridge so you can bring your own food. The building looks so clean! Yay for great fillers! 🎉 Everything is so neat and organized. Thanks for showing us around, Sharon!

Thank you for showing us around. Did they put the scissors back? I doubt it but was wondering about that. I was wondering if you see a full box lacking toys do you put them in. Some of my boxes didn’t have as many toys as I would have liked. The dollar stores near me were hit and miss and after so many boxes I couldn’t afford more expensive ones from other stores. They are still nice but I was wondering.
@eastcoaststories Жыл бұрын
No problem! Yes, we put the scissors in the filler bin. But not the shoeboxes they were taken from unfortunately. Oh yes, we put scissors in any boxes that were lacking. Within minutes, the scissors were all gone in shoeboxes. Sorry, hopefully your dollar stores will be more in stock next year! Thanks for watching! 🎄

Hi Jett, Thank-you for packing full shoeboxes. At my PC, we like to see shoeboxes that are comfortably full. This may be beacause the box is packed with more clothing or school supplies than toys. Or perhaps a larger plush or soccer ball as been packed ... like some of my boxes. I would have loved to add more toys but these would not fit with the soccer ball. So, I opted for a few smaller toys like a toy cars, fidget toys and fun stationary. As for your question about adding toys to a shoebox at the PC. This is done to achieve a comfortably full box or to fill a space when an unsuitable item like toothpaste has been removed. Often some of our filler are "budget" friendly options or homemade soft toys, clothing or wooden cars.
