In this edition of Tarikh, Nikhil narrates the story of Operation Kahuta. In 1974 india did Nuclear test during operation ‘Smiling Buddha’. It started an arms race and Pakistan started accelerating its nuclear program. In 1977 RAW agents were able to pinpoint Kahuta lab as the nuclear program center. They could have gotten the blueprints for Kahuta center but then Prime minster Morarji Desai was wary of RAW activities during 1975 Emergency. Hence he asked RAW to cease the katuta operation which led to destruction of RAW’s intelligence network across Pakistan. Watch complete video to know more about RAW and operation Kahuta.

Operation" Smiling Buddha" helped India become the 6th country in the world to conduct a nuclear test .The test was conducted on May 18,1974 under the supervision of Ramanna Sir who was then the director of Bhaba Atomic Research Centre . Homi J Bhaba also played a pivotal role in making India a Nuclear power 😊

Well, Nuclear bombs are weapons of mass destruction. There are vast differences between Nuclear plant vs nuclear enrichment and producing capability of the lab. What Israel did is they destroy the Nuclear plant which was never been active vs what Pakistan has the capability of producing enrichment grade for weapons capability, that can not be destroyed by bombing it cause it can not just destroy Pakistan but also part of India, Iran, Afghanistan, and China. If that was so easy then Europe, Israel, the United States, and even Russia would be able to do that.
