Jason Isaacs & Johnny Flynn are interviewed for Operation Mincemeat. Directed by John Madden, the film stars Colin Firth, Matthew Macfadyen, Kelly Macdonald, Penelope Wilton, Jason Isaacs, Johnny Flynn, Simon Russell Beale, Mark Gatiss. Stefan Pape is asking the questions.
Plot: The movie is set in 1943. The Allies are determined to break Hitler’s grip on occupied Europe and plan an all-out assault on Sicily, but they face an impossible challenge - how to protect a massive invasion force from a potential massacre.
It falls to two remarkable intelligence officers, Ewen Montagu (Colin Firth) and Charles Cholmondeley (Matthew Macfadyen) to dream the most inspired and improbable disinformation strategy of the war - centred on the most unlikely of secret agents: a dead man. Operation Mincemeat is the extraordinary and true story of an idea that hoped to alter the course of the war - defying logic, risking countless thousands of lives, and testing the nerves of its creators to breaking point.
Operation Mincement will commence in UK cinemas on the 15th of April, 2022.

I honestly can't understand how this film got such good reviews. I saw it on a longhaul flight and I found it utterly tedious, miscast, badly storyboarded, ineptly shot, and overall barely watchable. The entire romance angle was just ridiculous and unnecessary, and yeah I got that that was Ian Fleming when he was introduced. And do we REALLY need more Colin Firth?! There was only one interesting scene; when they try and pay the sister of the dead man. Beyond that it was totally forgettable. It's a great example of the utter drivel that's become typical of Hollywood's films in the last decade and also this ridiculous "little Britainer" mentality that's come around in the UK with that (also rubbish) film about Dunkirk and Gary Oldman playing Churchill and "the King's speech". On the same flight I watched the first 2/3 of the 1954 Horror film "the creature from the Black Lagoon". For all its dated practical effects, implausibility, etc; It was still a much more engaging watch. What a contrast in filmmaking! Time would've certainly passed easier had I picked that to watch from the start instead...
