I had the fortune of reading this arc first when it was already long completed so I didn’t have the bad experience many fans had with this arc. I’m glad that it’s getting a much better reception in its anime form. The arc really does read much better when you reread it as a whole package. It’s far better paced that way. In fact, the Joint Training Arc is the one that I’ve actually reread multiple times.

Some quirks are mutation quirks that physically change the appearance of its holder and cannot be turned off, such as tokoyami’s bird head, hagakure’s invisibility, and tsu’s frog. Mutation quirks are active since birth. Emitter and transformation quirks, however, which can be activated and turned on/off, are often developed at later ages. So like invisible girl didn’t just turn invisible one day and tsu didn’t randomly turn into a frog, they were always like that. As for Tokoyami, he was born with a bird head (that transforms his actual body) and I’m inclined to believe dark shadow was developed at a later age, since he can turn it on or off.

This is a little detail, but I love how Mushroom Girl's eyes look like the tops of mushrooms, like the tops of a specific kind of mushroom, she's like a literal Princess Toadstool (I feel like when Hori was thinking of hero-names, that was like one of them, but obviously couldn't because of blatant copyright; her outfit even has like the super mushroom color scheme); also her power just has the potential to be really scary and overpowered, watching Dorohedoro after reading the My Hero manga made me realize that, she spreads her spores through the air, the mist guns she has increase humidity which helps them grow, imagine some start growing from your inside out, like some kind of Last of Us shit. Also, shadow-dude's hero-name is Vantablack; which I think had to get changed in the subs cause I think that's like a copyrighted term, cause you can still hear it in the spoken dialogue.

The original name of kuroiro’s quirk is actually just “black”, which makes it even funnier. His hero name is also vantablack (which is one of the darkest known substances). Since vantablack is trademarked, my guess is that they likely changed the black in both to dark for the sub and dub, like how they called Mirio’s super move “Phantom Menace,” “Phantom Threat” in the subtitles and dub as well

3:17 Honestly in their last fight it's shown that Bakugo is still above Deku in terms of straight battle. Deku has better strategy but Bakugo is literally the person he studied to become as adaptive in battle as he is. It's also shown multiple times that through his anger, Bakugo knows the proper decisions to make and (in the All Might fight with him tagging w/Deku) is willing to even sacrifice his pride for the proper win

@xGungiManx Bakugo is a great example for the Quirk Singularity Theory that was brought up again a few episodes back. He got literally the best possible combination that could result out of his parents' quirks. His father can oxidize his sweat by rubbing his hands together and cause small explosions with nitric acid and his mother can sweat glycerin all over her body, which keeps her skin young. Bakugo takes elements of both quirks and can sweat nitroglycerin from his palms that can create powerful, multi-use explosions. And with how much experience and control he has over it, of course he'd be as powerful.

And he really only matched the speed of like 8% of OFA in their last battle, that seems realistic enough, we don't know how he'd fair against this 20% Deku. If it is any consolation, without spoiling anything, if Bakugo fought current manga Deku he'd probably get clapped immediately without getting more than 2 words out.
