So regarding the sidewinder issue at around 23:00. You were trying to lock a sidewinder on a helicopter which usually gives out little heat therefore you had to get close for the sidewinder to detect the heat source. Compare this to a jet which gives out alot of heat so you can lock further away
@WJY1807 Жыл бұрын
I don't know a lot about it but would the enemy helo's altitude have an effect cause it was quite low
@comradeboris2335 Жыл бұрын
@@WJY1807 that is more relevant for radar guided missiles because of how radar works, but unless the heat signature of the helo blends in with the ground it shouldn't really matter. Ofc if the helo had the sky in the background it would be easier to lock onto it but vehicles are generally so hot that it doesnt really matter. Looking back at the clip now though he should have been able to lock from further away

@GexMax5 жыл бұрын
so is it just "Rifle" no matter what Air to Ground Ordenance? Or are there further categories like with Fox?
@Cg23sailor5 жыл бұрын
@@GexMax Just Rifle. The reason for the differentiation with FOX is because those are air to air missiles and it is important for other friendly aircraft to know what type of system is being employed. YOU don't want to be popping flares at the moment if your wingman is calling FOX 2. The 1/2/3 does not denote specific missiles, but specific guidance of the missiles. Semi-active radar, Infrared. Active radar. For air to ground missiles, the other aircraft are unconcerned other than being warned of an air to ground launch.

Not to be "that guy" but just for realism sake, when you report in, you'd say what platform you're in when you report in to the JTAC and that you're on station. Something like what your callsign is, what you are, what you're armed with, (4x hellfire, etc etc) and that you're onstation and ready for tasking. In a real fight a JTAC might be working through more than 10 different units or even more so they'd need to know exactly what your capabilities are, what your estimated time in station would be, etc, so they can plan and use the right units effectively. When they call in the 9 line for fire support the JTAC specifically asks for a certain weapon system to be used, so that's why they need to know what you've got onboard and the quantity.

My first unit I arrived at back in 2015 3ID 2nd Battalion 3rd Aviation Regiment. I incorrectly said repeat lol 😂. The PC swiftly let me know not to do that anymore. He also said repeat is used when requesting an action to be done again. You should’ve said say again, you also don’t have to say over while the transmission is still going on that way if you have any other, Traffic over the air on your frequency they’ll know you all are still actively using comms. It also helps to use call signs. Especially with ground command, We had an incident at NTC OP4 compromised our comms you should’ve seen S-1/ military Intelligence scrambling. acknowledging radio transmission is "roger", giving your forward position is called "frontline trace" with a 6 digit grid. When playing CAS, you call the ground unit as youre making your way to them and state the time on station with the amount of ammo you have by ammo type on the helicopter. when calling the ground unit or any unit you start with their call sign followed by your call sign and state your radio transmission. I know this is a milsim however, if youre going to play it as if it was an actual mission try the proper radio etiquette. Another thing, you need to bring the heli closer to engage troops there is a range limit to how far you can shoot with the guns.
