@blurredbetween93
@blurredbetween93 2 ай бұрын
@@Aegaris42 It's worth noting that Joakim didn't play on Heritage except the piano on the first track. Besides that, Heritage was Per's last album before he was let go. Heritage is also a more experimental album than the last three, which are clearly more prog rock. So maybe he had an influence on the last three, but I'd argue not so much on Heritage.

Let's all take a moment to appreciate Waltteri's drumming on his first Opeth track. I can't believe the gutturals are back but the drum part at 2:35 is the most memorable part of this song to me.

I heard one growl and I went and purchased tour tickets immediately. I've been waiting for this for yearsssss. It's like every version of Opeth rolled into one (I hear a lot of Deliverance, some elements of Watershed, even a hint of BP in the background). The nostalgia is intense.

Not even close to Blackwater Park.. I'm glad the growls are back, but this song is not even close to be catchy imo.
@rashuninbloom
@rashuninbloom 2 ай бұрын
@@asscher10 well, I did use the word "hint" after all. Blackwater Park is its own beast and arguably their catchiest album. The intro lead guitar melody, however, shares a lot of similarities with the atmosphere of tracks like "The Leper Affinity" and The Funeral Portrait. Even the cover alone is reminiscent of BP...keep in mind that this is a radio edit and we haven't even heard the fleshed out version. 😅
